Yamaha 01X
Wow were do I start. If you own a computer and like me have a budget then buy this. My computer is 2.5Gb Athlon, 512 RAM which is fine for me because I use external synths, but once I add a few effects in cubase and EQ it starts to struggle. Now I do all my processing externally through the 01X, EQ, effects etc are a breeze for the 01X so the only strain on my CPU now is the track count. Also as a controller for Cubase it's flawless and now Yamaha own Steinberg this is only gonna get better. I use alot of MIDI gear so if I'm gonna split hairs the 01X could do with a few more MIDI channels. To sum up if I was to put together a recording system like the one I have without using the 01X...it would cost me at least 3 times the price and would probably be half as good and trying to get them all to live together in harmoney would probably give me a few more ulcers!!!!!!

Price paid

999 GBP

UTILIZATION

Easy peasy, done exactly what it sais on the tin. However the 01xray.com site will show you some folks who have had a few problems!

Works fine after 18M

SOUNDS

The sound quality of this unit is amazing. The pre amps are top drawer. AD/DA is so good it's untrue. The only problem I have sound wise is with the reverb. However I must tell you that I use the Alesis Midiverb 4 which although cheap (I paid 70 GBP) I think it is untouchable in it's price range.

OVERALL OPINION

I won a few quid recently and upgraded my gear....the only bit of kit I couldn't find anything better forafter 18 months was my Yammy (my pet name ssshhhhh she's asleep)

Yamaha 01X
To carry my 01X, I bought at Thomann, Thon plattensplieler
box fr Technics 1200 BZW (89) and it is wonderful!
Just dcoller (hard when even! It has super glue German!)
foam cover that is blocking the sense turntable and 01X slips
exactly between the foam reinforcements from the base of the box.
I filled out the cover with soft foam and I also put a thin strip
between the rear of the console and the flight case to avoid the numriques among rely on hard foam + box.
It would be perfect if the transport grip was the opposite because in this case the base of the 01X is based on the box.
Here c'tait my pipe thanking all those who have given me on Audiofanzine.

enmakak's review (This content has been automatically translated from French)" GOOD DIGITAL CONSOLE"

Yamaha 01X
Console that can do just about anything as large. Lots of possible routings, its most
that correct, I would say excellent. Motorized faders, groups and arranged its only downside preamps
flawed, its outputs spdif out put that in, that could do better.

UTILIZATION

ben trouble-free use console that works well with a clean up to the mark.
everything can be considered from this console, making also serves as a control surface, sound card etc. ..
associated with an audio interface share the same protocol ie MLAN at that time all
becomes the most formidable in the studio setup.

SOUNDS

mixing console very effective 4-band semi parametric eq.

OVERALL OPINION

For about six years, well what great choice like most scenes recall the motorized faders,
assignment of parameters. Opportunities in terms of routing, we can send what you want or you want
thanks to a software patch bay. What I like least its pramplis, its output -10 dBu to +4 dBu output
in symmetrical would have been welcome
