It's ok

Marshall Vintage Modern 2266CPublished on 06/24/11 at 11:23
I have gotten some time to spend with this amp and it really isn't my cup of tea. I am not really impressed with the tone of the amp first of all and second the color of the tolex is hideous. It is this purple/black color that is just goofy looking to say the least.

The tone of the amp is ok, but ok just isn't that good. I much more prefer the tone and the features of the Marshall JCM2000 DSL. That amp kills this one in my opinion.

SOUNDS

This amp is really just a mediocre amp. They are trying to mix the modern style tones with the operation of the vintage amps and I just can't get into it. The amp is not appealing in any way. I spend a good amount of time trying to get a tone that I like but it was not going to happen. I have never had this much trouble finding a usable tone with a Marshal before.

I used a PRS guitar and a Suhr modern guitar and neither one of them sounded good through it. It could very well be just my ear because a lot of guys like this amp. It just wasn't for me I guess.

OVERALL OPINION

At new these amps come in at around $1599. That is about the right price for this amp. It has a decent tone but nothing really special to my ears. I would much rather go for a Splawn Streetrod or a Budda over this amp any day of the week.

I would only recommend someone trying this amp out first before they buy. I see these a lot on the classifieds ad it seems there is a lot of turn over with these amps. Which tells me either they are flooding the market or a ton of people just don't jive with it as much as other Marshall amps.

The clean is far from a Fender midrange (Blues Junior) much better than the mini Mesa Rectifier, there is a bit of presence and grain but nothing more ... what a Marshall So you see he has had to be caught on the drive and there ... we remain puzzled, wondering what they wanted to do something like the drive channel of Mesa vintage mini Correct, it is inexplicable to me I do not like, it looks like nothing, it's not spit at all is shy, even opening the volume of the HP
Fans of his vintage go your way, in any case well before the test

OVERALL OPINION

I would say just to avoid for fans like me of good old old school Marshall, who seeks after a bit of versatility there is the JVM Series offers more possibilities ... For my part I keep my JCM800 4010

With 2 switch "mid boost" and "dynamic range low / high."
A button makes prsence trs good job knowing to be discreet if you do not put excessive.

BIG plus point: the volume knob is very gradual, unlike the fender with his super strength 0.001 is direct on the volume knob ...

SOUNDS

The sound is just crystal clear, excellent, there is good seed! the lights are doing their job! ds without saturating it up the sound! and thanks to rglages "body" and "dtail" you can really sound rgler our way, great!

You can put the sound not much if you will, thanks to the volume knob trs progressive.

Frize not that good rverb ds that mounts the dry / wet.

Personally, I bcp + prfr this amp that the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (which after my tro serious and is less prcis)

OVERALL OPINION

I did not like the Marshalls, and although I am the bleuff .... I highly recommend this amp to the vintage lamps and modern components! BRAVO Marshall ...

The Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, and even the Orange Rocker 30 (berrrkkkk) seemed to me much less prcis, etc.

I plan to buy the Marshall ... ds 1300 euros that I ...^^

It ends with the master volume, then the button for the determination of Reverb (numrique mulant perfectly reverb springs). Damage elsewhere, given the technology used, why not have about other preset reverb?

UTILIZATION

This amp seems at first archi-simple to use, there is only one channel. In addition when the achte nine, there is a sticker on top that gives quick explanations (in English) to start searching for the sound you want. The sound is at once the color is really the lights going out, and send!
Then when you dive into the manual (in French), we realize all the subtle concept of this amp and its versatility. I suggest you also read it is instructive trs. And indeed, once we understand the interaction between the two gain knobs, you realize the opportunities that sound research standards to our door!

SOUNDS

I use it to play rock, blues and jazz. For this kind of music it is perfect. I think it is not too suited for the mtal, trash and whatnot like that, albeit with pedals ...
I use it with a Stratocaster and a Gibson 1 / 2 box.
The clean sounds are really beautiful and you can even have them playing hard. The rhythms are funky with Stratocaster pchues, although striking the casseroles, the Red Hot arpges the clean sound is beautiful.
The sounds are great for crunchy blues and jazz solos. This amp really rpond nuances of guitar playing. It is the strong point. I encourage everyone to use the volume knob of the guitar to play with all possible colors. Russianness this level is a l. on the other hand I am not a fan of the button Dynamic Range which saturated the amplifier, but I admit not having taken too much time to explore.

OVERALL OPINION

I use intensment for 2 months now. I start well connatre and I'm really pleased.
I was looking for a one channel amp, as a fan of effects pedals. What really is the j'apprcie quality and expressiveness of the lamps you get and also versatile. On the other hand the finish of this amp is really nickel (ah, the violet color of the coating), the lamps are being protected derrire a grid, a brief exudes quality and is plutt in a new Marshall. His only default is the weight lev good 30 kilos, as I trimballe several times a week it should MRIT the guy!
I tried a Fender Hot Rod, trs attractive and seems pretty level expressiveness. I have a lot hsit but seemed less versatile. I had a Peavey Valve King test all lamps too, much cheaper, but I have not hooked too hard as his.
Of course, this amp is not given for a 50W, but the opportunities it offers are worth every penny.
With exprience, I think I would resume the same.
