Digidesign Pro Tools 7 LE was really easy to install and set up with my Mbox. I have it installed on my PC laptop and there haven't been any compatibility issues to date. I just really followed the steps that came with Pro Tools and it should be easy to get going if you follow the manual.
SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE
I have a Hewlett Packard laptop with a 3.0 Ghz processor and 1 GB Ram and I haven't had too many problems running Pro Tools LE. However, I have a friend who runs it on a mac and it seems to run much better on there. I can record 2 tracks at once with my Mbox and I have had no problems doing that.

OVERALL OPINION
I've had Pro Tools LE 7 for about a year now and I couldn't be happier. Pro Tools is the industry standard and its great to be able to bring my sessions from home to larger studios and vice versa. I've used other software in the past such as Cubase, Logic and Sonar and while to me they are all really powerful, Pro Tools has been the most user friendly and the most powerful. While you will spend more on a Digidesign interface/Pro Tools software combo than you would from another brand, having the Pro Tools software makes it all worth it for me. Being that it is the industry standard, I don't think that I could work without having a copy of Pro Tools for myself.

I confess I do not understand this vritablement mania swear by Protools. Considering the prices pratiqus Digidesign Protools and reputation, I am very trsdus.
What is the interest to work with a hardware / software more expensive than the competition and really better?

Hi All
I am new user to ex ProTools LE 7. I bought it Jan. 7, 2006 (with Digi002 rack) and resold the same 20 months. Nothing wrong at the installation. It plutt easy. Ditto for the hardware configuration gnrale. Surprise at the first launch: the software is in English. A black dot over the doc also in English.

Protools 7 LE requires large hardware resources. Indeed I Exceeds 60% CPU utilization with 12 audio tracks in reading and 5 plugins in which an insert convolution reverb (Wizoo)! The other 4 taient a comp and a basic EQ Digidesign. I use Nuendo 3 and I can usually record 24 tracks simultaneously and mix as much (or +) with 3 different reverbs (home waves), a comp + insert an EQ on each voice, use of sub-groups with even other effects and I can not reach 20% CPU usage! Digidisign MRIT the sale of the new manner in which PT 7 plugins gre ... no comment
Also I had several errors and crashes due to DAE (digital audio engine).
OVERALL OPINION
I used Pro Tools LE 7 almost 2 weeks to finally come back without hsitation Nuendo 3. In fact, the keyboard shortcuts are super complicated alt + shift + ["] for example and so must all the time going through the menus, the markers are difficult grate + and finally the edition or no programming noon and compared Nuendo. I often work on projects with long recording time (1:30 2 hours) and PT7 the "bounce to disk" which serves a mix multiple tracks to wav file Stereo lasts as logtemps the same time session. With Nuendo 3 for a project of 2 hours, 10 minutes to take the blender file stro.
The price quality ratio is good because even when the audio interface (the digii002) is of very good quality. pramps the 4 are good and it is possible to route the signal easily. However, and this is rather teacher, Digidesign announces 32-track recording and playback or the Digi002 not be liable for only 18 to record (and still a little bricollant with spdif). It is impossible to couple two Digi002 to reach the 32 tracks ... not cool. I for my part rgulirement need 24 tracks simultaneously.
In short in my case, I make a mistake by buying Digi002 and Protools 7 and I ENTSO. This material does not rpond my needs. I will not go that choice in the future. I sold everything and came back from Nuendo 3 with an RME Fireface 800. This is the day and night! DSOL for fans of Protools, but for me this log do nothing more than Nuendo. For the quality of sound, a good mic, good pramp, good converters and is jou whatever the software used.

Hi all, I just invest for the version of Pro Tools LE 7
For installation, no problem, as usual Digidesign, very easy and hassle free.
The manual is in English, as the software, so the bases are necessary but the software is intuitive, so by taking a minimum it's going to the head.
Warning against by some plug-ins also require an upgrade to work
SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE
I have an athlon 64 3200 + on a MSI K8N Neo, 1GB of RAM and two hard drives 7200rpm Sata 150, and an M-Box's first name.
The software eats a max of resources (but not more than 6.9) but given the quality of sound that's understandable, and my config protools runs perfectly, even in the end mix with more than...…

The software eats a max of resources (but not more than 6.9) but given the quality of sound that's understandable, and my config protools runs perfectly, even in the end mix with more than 20 tracks and a lot of plugs, when it is made auxiliary tracks to avoid putting too many plug-in, there's no problem. on the other hand 1GB RAM is required.
The sound quality is impressive, even with a "small" m-box.
It crashes rarely, when the computer is reserved for the zic, even on pc as long as not a whole lot of programs running in the background is nikel.
OVERALL OPINION
I use pro tools for 2 years now, I've always does very pleased.
The upgrade to version 7 is worth it, despite a reorganization of menus that I was a little disturbed at beginners (just take a blow), I am very happy.
The amliorations that struck me most are:
-The instrument tracks, they are much more convenient (no need to create an auxiliary track + one MIDI) and a bunch of small amlioration for MIDI, very practical.
-The Drag and Drop, finally!
-The possibility of grouping of the Regions as tracks
-10 Sends instead of 5
-The possibility to automate all the functions of a plug at a time, I use it rarely but it is super handy when you need it!
-New plugs "Dynamics 3" not bad at all.
So much for me, so it's true that the upgrade is a bit expensive (90) but it's worth, I regret now that I got used to the new features I think are essential ...
