M-Audio Omni Studio Usb

I chose this card for its 4 inputs and especially the quality of its pramps and converters.
I use it mostly alone then track by track, and from time to time to live recordings with friends. She is also very small mixing btement 4IN to play alone by connecting mic / guitar or microphone / keyboard ...
I have an Athlon XP1800 + with only 256MB of RAM and a motherboard K7S5A.

UTILIZATION

No problem to install once you dl the drivers on the website of M-AUDIO because they are not provided in the bote nor the manual (M-AUDIO working on this pb)
Once installed, the card is ready-employment, I / O Mono 1 & 2 (Stereo pair) are recognized by Windows and any of its soft. However deuxime to use the pair (3 & 4) you must use software that accepts ASIO / EASI (good to know!).
The configuration is comfortable gnrale (3 paramtres only! RESOLUTION, frquence and latency) for the rest everything is done on the case of the interface (volume, gain, routing different ...)
the manual download on the site of M-Audio is in English but it is clear and well done.
(I note 7 because of dsagrment but works!)

GETTING STARTED

The drivers appear to be stable and the version number of mine (5.10.00.3516) suggests to me that the team of M-AUDIO optimizes rgulirement enough!
Using Samplitude 7, is your exact trs good. The monitoring software with FX gives me 21 ms latency (RULES card in "low" for more stability)
In fact I use just this type of monitoring because the card is very well for the team monitoring hardware. Mixer with internal controls indpendantes monitoring what is sent to the converters, SEND / RETURN with 4 pots of SEND level for a process of external effect. Direct Out for 4 inputs and insert effect on 1 & 2.
The two headphone outputs with level indpendants are both useful.

OVERALL OPINION

I use the USB OmniStudio since only 15 days and I am satisfied with trs. I have not toured the possibilities ... I particulirement management hardware monitor that allows any grate from the case and giving it what ct "indpendant" a small mixer for use even without a PC! I love the look and solid housing and connectors. The interface is cumbersome in mtal (on the picture it looks like plastic but no, it is much better in real life!), The two connectors combo XLR / TRS jack from Neutrik are practical and TRSR tants. Finally the sound is irrprochable the pramps and converters are trs good quality and the recording is obtained without breath or parasite, the sound is clear and neutral, what more?
For that I use, I did not find a weak point ... T I just a little surprised at the rear connector (as used to the amateur stuff), the monitor output jack and hand are 6.35 mm symtrique. no RCA it must adapt and learn when you, like me and waiting for something better, a simple string to monitor!
Given the value for qualitprix and total satisfaction it gives me the choice I do it again without hsiter!

I was looking for an audio / MIDI interface on which I can connect all my devices with basic mixing functions. Here we have two entrances with pramp, two and four line input AUX input, MIDI in / out, send / return and direct outputs. I have two microphones above my POD and my synth electro-acoustic guitar. In 24bit/44.1kHz, we can make 4in/2out simultaneously without any pb. Direct monitoring is very simple to work. The pramp / trs converters are good for the price range (a thousand times better than the Roland U8 I had before). The look is also trsrussi, mtallise faade, robust buttons, makes it a lot better than the picture.
I use it with a Mini PC Biostar PIV 2.8GHz, 40GB HD 7200tr, 512.

UTILIZATION

There is a CD with drivers and manual in PDF franais. It seems that there is also a printed manual with the latest version. Some soft drinks are provided audio (VSTi, Sampletank free and a light version of Live).
Installation of drivers without pb on XP. I use ASIO in Cubase SL 2, I've never had a crash in four months of use. The menu is very simple config driver, otherwise everything is rgler directly on the interface and is handy.

GETTING STARTED

No bp stability of drivers, so I did not even look if t had been days! I have a latency between 10 and 15ms rglage with a "medium" (compromise stabilitperfo), nickel for VSTi so. I use it with Cubase SL 2, Battery and Sampletank Free, everything works well together trs. I did qq live recordings in a 4in simultaneously works well, it should be the limit of what USB is capable but trs qd same stable.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had four months, I had long before changing my hsit U8, and I would do without hsiter this choice, especially since prices much lower ... For me it is the IDAL in a small home studio for models / components. The sound is good, it is stable and the look is nice, and for my personal use I did not feel limited by its possibilities. I would like to point ngatif but frankly I do not see ...

I chose this card for the number of inputs / outputs, the quality (avre) of the two pramps + ghost and his mobility.
In fact it can serve as recorder Stereo or 4 tracks. But also to disseminate lctro four tracks, or an interface for processing in real time.
All this coupled with a UC33e.
Used with a laptop Compaq PIV 2.4 GB + 40 Ghz_256Mo Ram_DD an external F / W 200GB.
Direct connection of microphones through pramp (couple B-5 behringher notament)
output to a Spirit Folio F1, or directly to my amp yamaha P1600, or to the rgy diff concert venues

UTILIZATION

Installation without too much problem, no incompatibility. But on the advice of M-Audio, I prfr same right to opt for a purchase of VIP and not a Centrino processor or "Mobile". Too bad for the fans. I could not test it from another machine.
The config is a bit sensitive and the manual not clear a total notament in terms of connectivity.
By against, having the "buttons" across faade "speaks" my brain old analog generations.

No worries for drivers today. I use those supplied with.
I have not really measured the latency, but I had some surpise in wanting "too much". I tend to leave on mdium.
on the other hand, unless I am mistaken, it is not possible to have the two other than IN 96kHz/24bits not very practical for software that does not Grente
I use this card mainly with AudioMulch and with Samplitude. Zero-worries

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a year now. And I'm really happy.
It matched my budget and a trs REPRESENTATIVES good compromise quality Price / Features
As against, for pity tural "mobilitquot; n'tant food not provided by the USB port, it could also be in a book bag for being protected from shock, but that price is the dj trs well. And it does not look that strong, it REALLY is.
