Yamaha PSR-275
5 octave synthesizer, Input / Output MIDI DIN, 6.5 for headphone output jack, output jack for pedal (sustain), a myriad of sounds from, but not editable (if the effect parameters Reverb, Chorus, ...), many "styles" (rhythm section type), no sequencer.

In short, the bare minimum, but all you need is there.

UTILIZATION

Simple setup (it turns on and plays), but with one caveat: the menu "OneTouch".
Indeed, there is only one button to navigate the menu, so no going back. If it was "zapped" the menu item that you wanted change, we must go all around the list by pressing as many times on the "OneTouch". Not practical at all.
That said, we do not need the menu very often, since access to the sound is direct and clear with 2 + / - buttons and a keypad.
The manual is very clear and French.

OVERALL OPINION

- I use it for 4 years, mainly in south, connected to my PC via a sound card with external rack (Hercules Game Theater XP 6.1). Very easy to use, in this case, since it requires no adjustment: one branch, we play, and it changes the sound from the software (Reason, FM-7, B4 ,...). None other than the latency inherent in the sound card.
- Only, I use it often for its "Grand Piano", not bad at all on HP that are good for that use. However I find the same sound too "digital" and not enough on the resonant headphones. For the record, I prefer to take in two microphones in front of the HP line out of the headphone.
- I tested other Yamaha synths more upscale in-store only (I can not help it ..., p). No significant differences to report in terms of sound quality, note the the "Grand Piano". In addition, it was the dynamic response of the small keyboard (more on tape, the more the sound is loud), which is an excellent point. For use midi on the very electronic, I disconnected this feature. No touch "piano" (heavy keys), however, but now we like it or not. Personally, I really do not have a soft feel.
- In short, a quality / price ratio very honest. It has all the necessary features, and excellent reliability and more, since I do not regret at this time no problem.
I would do without this choice problem, and I advice to all budget.
