- Is the rack?
Not
- How many lanes, bus attendant, departures, returns ...)?
2 Way (with Fader Start) + 2 Mic (or an auxiliary stereo input)
Master and Rec
headphone
- What is the type of connectors (RCA, Jack, XLR ...)?
2 Ways to RCA (Phono / Line)
Master and Rec CAR
Micro Jack 6.35
Headphone Jack 6.35
1 Control by
1 GND
- The parametric equalizer is it?
Not
3 Cuts per track (HI / MID / LOW)
1 EQ on the microphone (LOW / HI)
- The effects section is it integrated?
Yes: 7 + effects on IN-LOOP SAMPLER
- The Master outputs can be set in Stereo or Mono
- Phono inputs can be switched in Line
- For the micro was a switch ON / OFF / TALK OVER
I put 8 / 10 because I would have appreciated an effects loop (send / return) and the ability to adjust the gain of the Master and Rec separately.
UTILIZATION
- The general configuration is it simple?
Very simple configuration, except for earnings and the Master, there is nothing (or almost) to solve (Phono or Line, Micro or auxiliary curve of the Cross)
- The usual functions are they easily accessible?
Everything is easily accessible, a conventional arrangement but still effective:
- The section on the left headphone and microphone
- The two tracks in the center with Cuts, the gains
- The Cross just below the curve setting
- Right, the Master box and effects
A conventional arrangement with Pioneer but proven. Are assigned very easily have an effect on a track, the microphone or the Master: two notched knob, one for selecting the effect and the other for the assignment.
In short everything is easy to use!
- The manual is clear and sufficient?
The manual is very filled but there are still clear. I do not have it in front so I could not comment, but anyone who knows what a mixer, which includes the word Line, Phone, ... and who knows what an RCA will be largely satisfied with the explanations.
I find this mixer very comfortable, very convenient (because of its size), the knobs and faders are nice (though I prefer those of its big sister the DJM800), the backlit buttons let you see on those that were activated or not, the BPM counter is clear (at the same time it displays the BPM of 3 numbers) and accurate. Some will find that the IN-LOOP SAMPLER is not very easy to use but in reality it is (n quick glance at the manual, you look a little demo video and go).
The buttons to adjust the effects are great (1 / 2 4 / 1 but you can go more or less far depending on the effect with the buttons + / -) have fun with the fast roll or same with the other effects.
SOUNDS
- The console is transparent?
Yes! The sound is very good, no crackling sounds unpleasant to others even when saturated, the sound is "clean" (I put in quotes because a saturated sound is never good but I've seen worse)
- Introduced she breath?
No (or I do not hear it). In the headphone by means against a breath when they cut everything and you go up the headphone volume, but that's all.
- The equalizer is effective?
Yes! the cuts (from - infinity to +9) is perfect I think (those who mix electro not contradict me I think).
For the microphone, I could not tell you what it is I have not had the opportunity to test.
OVERALL OPINION
- How long have you use it?
For a little over 2 months.
- What is so special that you like most and least?
+ The format of the mixer (compact)
+ Ability to toggle Phono Line
Quality + Pioneer
+ The effects of very high quality
- Unable to set the gain of the Master and Rec separately
- Can not adjust the BPM other than the APR (a combination Time + TAP as the 800 would have been perfect but we do not have the knob on the Time 400 which can be for some other negative)
- Have you tried many other models before buying it?
DJM600, DJM800, Nuo2
- How would you rate the quality / price?
It is the pioneer, it's expensive, it is not even repeat it is nothing but quality, strength, know-how and everything else is paid for her, and frankly at the end there is rarely disappointed .
- With experience, you do again this choice?
Certainly!
Finally, I would say the DJM400 is a very good mix Able 2-way complete, it offers many possibilities. I would not say it is perfect because it is not true: even when it lacks a few things that are not essential but very sure that would be practical, so I would give it an overall score of 8 / 10.
My review was written based on my experience in the mix on CD and more in the style electro / house. I've never tried or seen work in other situations (Vinyl, Scratch, ...)
