Excellent but typed

(4x12 The only trading at his $ 1,100 only!) This is a true Leclerc, both by its weight (about 70kg if I remember correctly) that by its resistance: with 4 Sheffields can carefree cash to 250w RMS into 8 ohms. The ultimate tool if you have an amp that goes up to 11 in total. And as regards its construction, it only takes a glance to see that this is not a tour that may be due to the cab.
Ultimately, it will be hard to beat for the blues that cab, but the weight may put off some, invest for the home studio or on tour, but plan to stamp roadie to lug around!See less10 - iamqman
Not that great
Published on 06/28/11 at 13:45I have always been a fan of Peavey amps but never a fan of their cabinets. They seem to be very cheap;y build and the wood is not resonant at all. The have a Peavey brand speaker in most of their cabinet and I believe this one has the Sheffield. 4x12 speakers in there. These speaker aren't bad speakers at all bu they just don't cut the way I would like a good Celestion or British voiced speaker to sound.
Peavey has done a great job at keeping their prices low for the majority of consumers and in this economy that is a good thing. They have done it with there amplifiers quite well with most of them under $1000 and the professionally used ones just over $1100. Peavey has done a great job at keeping their prices low for the majority of consumers and in this economy that is a good thing. They have done it with there amplifiers quite well with most of them under $1000 and the professionally used ones just over $1100. That is about as high as PEavey goes for their amps. They continue to do the same for their cabs as well.
Their cabinets are made of plyboard materials and their own speakers. They don't feel very sturdy and the over impression I get from them is that these are very substandard in terms of professional use.
Though this cabs specifically voiced for the classic head amps from Peavey. These heads are voiced for the classic rock tone from the records of the 70's and early 80's. You get a good vintage vibe fro the amp and that is the reason for the Sheffield speaker.
These speakers are certainly named this for the British flavor to which they possess. They have a decent tone but nothing that makes you want to continue playing this amp. The cab doesn't project the tone that I would like, but then again most cabinet makers don't project like I would imagine. Basically they need to take a page out of the Bogner, Mills, or Splawn playbook because they seem to get it right.
Compared to a Splawn cab which has successfully kept their prices to fantastic lows for being handmade. Not much more expensive then this cab would have been o the new market when it was released.
I have no idea what these cabinets are going for on the used market now a days. I would not recommend this cab and I would recommend a Splawn cab instead. You get a great tone and the vintage classic rock tone for the likes of AC/DC or Van Halen and still be able to use your Peavey classic head with them.See less01
