« Fender DG20CE »
Published on 12/27/01 at 15:00I recently aquired the Fender Acoustic/Electric DG20CE in Cleveland OH at Guitar Center for $299. My former Acoustic Electric collapsed at the headstock. I play out regularly and while I can get by with my electric (which is what I mostly use)it's nice to have an Acoustic for certain songs.
For the price it's an awesome purchase. It retails at $405 and usually sells around $320. I have a good relationship with my local vendor and got a particularly good deal. Ibanez makes an Acoustic Electric that is similar in quality and reatails for $279. The major differences between them are that the fender is a solid top, the electronics are on the top of the body and not by the neck (where they would be covered by the strap), the input for the fender is in the bottom strap button, which in my opinion is much more durable and keeps the cable out of the way. The tone is also incredibly bright (not tinny) for it's pricerange.
Agian for the price, I can't say that there is anything I don't like.
The wood grain is nice and tight, assembly looks great, the machine heads are smooth. No problems here.
This guitar is a great purchase. I would buy this guitar over anything else in it's pricerange. It's easily better than most guitars retailing at $579.
