« Like the warm sound? Look no further ... »
Published on 11/13/14 at 01:24French guitar made in China (like all LAG "non custom") with a rigorous specifications, which can achieve a sound and aesthetic quality very very good.
Table in solid red cedar, which produces a particularly warm and punchy sound.
Back and sides Tropical Khaya (African Mahogany) rolled, certainly, but that sound perfectly, with an outstanding record of harmonics.
Recall that guitars like Gibson and Martins have rolled back and sides mahogany and are sold at around € 5,000, so let's not complexed to buy a guitar with back and sides that are not solid.
Tropical Khaya also handle with good routing.
Button in Indonesia Rosewood (no mark: creepy).
Headstock veneer with rosewood inlay indonesia brand maple (sublime).
Finish Varnish "French Satin", a non-glossy varnish, which provides a sense of sobriety, like: "hey dude this is a guitar to play, not to play ..."
The rose is a reminder of Indian rosewood on the contour, with a Mahogany Occitane around the cross button.
On the preamp, it is on Lag Studio Plus, so the top of the preamp in Lag. 5 types of sounds are arranged, each more beautiful than the others. Versatility guaranteed.
The beautiful just lost a point (9/10) for its Chinese-made ... I know, I'm a little chauvinistic ... I would have preferred a guitar Made in France, it would have been the class (although the price would not have been the same)
That said, it is not because it is China that does not ring ....
UTILIZATION
So if your question is? "And the strings are close to the handle?"
The answer is "oh yes!"
And allows ease of impressive game.
The handle is comfortable to play and it does not happen playing 3 hours of tendinitis in a row.
The cutaway is great because the shape of the heel allows access to acute EASY!
The weight is perfect for sitting or standing play.
Trus rod adjustable in both directions.
SOUNDS
In view of the characteristics and use, it is reasonable to ask: "hey, that's all well and good, but it sounds or not?"
It sounds?
So that to sound, it sounds and not a little ....
This guitar has an impressive sustain that has nothing to envy the big guns ... and remember the price ...
His sound is warm and soft with well rounded bass and midrange present. The highs are also very clear and sharp (especially when playing open strings). After we rest on warm woods, so incomparable with a spruce top and maple back (we agree).
You do not argue with the tastes and colors, so if you want to know if you like the sound it projects, try !!
OVERALL OPINION
I played on many acoustic, including, to name a few:
- Guild F50 (spruce-maple) with a very crisp and clear sound (€ 2,550 for non-solid back and sides, remember ...), very good but not really sustain the sound I want. A little too flat. USA manufacturing
- Takamine EF508KC (all Koa) with a very warm sound (1200 €), but a little difficult to discern the treble. Japan manufacturing
Then I knew Lag. A little reluctant at first, but because Chinese conquered all that has been said before.
I realized that the opinions were very good on the acoustic, so I took my courage in both hands and I went to test it in the store ...
I've tried all series of the T66 and the T400 is the association cedar / mahogany that won me over.
Finally a guitar "without makeup" that sounds like it would ...
The value and breathtaking report.
If I Had to Do It All Over Again, I would not hesitate.
For those looking for a guitar Bling-Bling, go your way ...
