Owner of pregnant ADAM SUB12 S3XV + (for a hifi and HC use), I have the opportunity to have the test at home for one week these S5XV. Given the price difference (doubled!), I was expecting to gain a sound, especially as I had the opportunity to listen briefly at a friend of DYNAUDIO AIR25, the same price, which are much higher than my current system in terms of dynamics, stereo stage, presence, etc ...
But then ... what "slap" as they say! We listened carefully (my wife and I) just before unplugging our system, the album "Blow up" of Galliano and Portal, and have listened to it again immediately after plugging the S5XV: from the first seconds of listening, this just is not the same disc!
First, transparency is incredible: we heard for the first time some sound events, but they are also the endings of notes that are much longer; on held notes is meant as never micro-variations in sound intensity and note pitch. This transparency is exerted on the spectrum: the bass has a vent, speed that I had heard that once, in a very old listening BW801 (first name).
So, combined with an equally phenomenal dynamic, but still natural, this transparency provides a sensation of "lightness", all the more surprising that the record is "dense": it seems to have more overtones for the same note!
The density of the sound is reflected in the analysis of the sound stage: the term is also low, one should speak holography! The performers are placed in the space with a relief and a "materiality" ... which we quickly no longer think as this is natural! Moreover, an HC test confirmed that the 5.1, 7.1 or whatnot, are unnecessary here to create 3D sound!
I put 10/10 in value, which may seem "bloated" to a pair of speakers to 10,000 € (which I can not afford ...) but simply accessing "another world "while with my current system already expensive (about € 5,000 with the sub), we have made a" better "than smaller systems. I have not made a lot of plays of HDG hifi systems, but I am sure we can expect better with this type of equipment to double or triple budgets!
Well, I hope that my opinion will be useful: the minutes of listening to this kind of material do not run the canvas ...
