Active Monitor from Genelec belonging to the 6000 series

The Genelec, 6010A is a compact two-way active loudspeaker system that has been designed for computer sound systems, workstations and other close proximity listening applications.

Designed as an active loudspeaker, the 6010A contains drivers, power amplifiers, active crossover filters and protection circuitry.

The manufacturer says the 6010A excels in applications where space is at a premium, taking full advantage of the innovations and unconventional design features created by Genelec’s R&D team. The all-aluminium Minimum Diffraction Enclosure™ (MDE™) and advanced Directivity Control Waveguide™ (DCW™) technologies are carefully matched with advanced amplifier and electronics circuitry and the latest drivers.

The integrated design allows the amplifiers and the drivers to be calibrated as a single unit in the factory. This apparently eliminates the effects of component tolerances and ensures consistent quality.

A RCA line level input connector provides connection to a preamplifier, computer sound card or a portable MP3 player.

The active crossover controls 'Desktop Control’ and 'Bass Tilt’ are designed to allow the 6010A to be matched to any application. The bass and treble amplifiers each produce 12 watts of output power. The fast, low distortion amplifiers are designed to drive a stereo pair to peak output sound pressure levels in excess of 102 dB at 1 m.

Dimensions are only H 181mm and 14mm more with Iso-Pod stand, W121mm, D114mm, .

To complement the 6010A active loudspeaker system, Genelec is also launching the 5040A, its most compact active subwoofer designed to complement up to five Genelec 6010A loudspeakers or a pair of the slightly bigger 6020A s.

Measuring 251mm high with a diameter of 305mm, the 5040A extends the system’s bass response from 73Hz down to 35 Hz and integrates with the 6010A’s in any environment.

The playback level for the whole system is controlled by the remote volume control provided with the 5040A subwoofer.

The 5040A features a magnetically shielded downward firing 6–1/2" bass driver attached to a die-cast aluminium base plate.
