The 8240A is suited for monitoring in recording studios, post-production houses, broadcast installations, digital edit suites, home studios and mobile production vehicles.

The 8240A features a reflex port, Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) and the rounded-edges and gently curved front and sides of the MDE (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure) enclosure.
The 8240A features magnetic shielding, overload protection circuitry and room response controls as standard. It also features adjustment of levels, distance delays and room response equalization with the AutoCal calibration system via the GLM control network. The 8240A has both analog and AES digital inputs in combination with a digital thru connection.
Each 8240A comes with an Iso-Pod (Isolation Positioner/Decoupler), which is designed to eliminate coloration of the sound by decoupling the monitor from its mounting surface. The Iso-Pod also allows the monitor to be angled so that its acoustic axis points directly at the listener, Genelec says. For mounting in differing environments, the 8240A includes integrated rear support points for floor and wall stands, with an additional M10 threaded mounting hole on the enclosure base.
