Value For Money : Excellent
I do not have the mixing desk in my home studio but I had the opportunity to work on it in ceului one of my buddies and, given its small size for a table of this size, it&#39;s worth I pause for a moment above.

Key features:
It is an analog 24/4/2, that is to say 24 inputs, 4 auxiliary effect sends or master bus and a 2 channel - even if he withdraws on 3 pairs of outputs including 1 XLR. The 24 inputs are equipped with insert jacks.

Approximate size: 69 x 40 cm, rare for a 24 entries!

Type of connectors: That the TRS; the first 12 entries have a XLR and 1 more pairs of outputs are XLR.

Possible settings per channel, in order of signal:

Input Sensitivity

Acute

Parametric mid

Basses

Volume effect starting 1 or 2

Volume Aux sends (pre or postfader, adjusting to do in the master section for the bus in full)

Volume departure Monitor (Prefader)

Panoramic

MUTE

CUE button (send to PFL)

Volume fader.

</ul>

Possible settings in the Master section:

Volume effect return 2

Volume effects return 3

Volume 4 effects return

Sensitivity setting (-10 dB or +4 dB) for the effects return 3 and 4

Two faders for volume output of the bus master.

Has VU meters for the master bus and the bus monitor / PFL.

Sensitivity level meters: -24 dB to +9 dB.

1 headphone jack

LED input sensitivity of 3 colors: yellow for signal, orange when the signal crosses the 0 dB at saturation and red signal.

UTILIZATION

It&#39;s a mixing desk rather scheduled for concerts because there is no return to recording, and time as such it is rather nice because it is small so compact and easy to carry.

It is even possible to chain several Roland M-24E with its input connectors bus master, effects, monitoring and auxiliary. The mixer is connected upstream not even have to be a M-24E, this may very well be any other table mix x / 4 / 2.

The setting is special effect sends. A single knob adjusts the signal for the two effects sends. If you turn left, you send the signal through the effects of a departure and if you turn right to the FX 2 and when the center no signal is sent either in a nor in the 2. Result: impossible to send the signal in the two effect sends per channel simultaneously.

In the case of my friend, is its exceptionally small size relative to the number of entries - and cheap hand ^ ^ - who won as it enters hair cell in the limited space that he has for his home studio. This also makes it compact, is the fact that she was only 12 XLR connectors on the first 12 entries instead of 24. Obviously, these connectors is taking up space on the rear panel.

For him, even the 24 entries is insufficient because it has a large collection of synths of all kinds, so it should connect other tables mix upstream, rack table this time, no choice.

The connectors are somewhat difficult to access, especially if there is no way back, but hey, you have to do it ...

SOUNDS

To make recordings of CD quality is not really the top. Old design, it blows a lot. Although all mutant channels except 2, even when operating its XLR outputs, I can not get its signal to noise ratio average to below 67 dB, and everyone knows that the CD has an average SNR of 80 see 85 dB. We see that it was designed before the advent of digital consumer.

Even the MUTE buttons do not stop the signal at 100%, a residual signal passes anyway, we must at all costs down the channel faders unused, even if there is something connected to it.

Everything is good to be taken against the breath when used in order to register with the desktop down unused channels, use the most balanced connections possible, when a source line (synths, drum machines , etc..) is more than 3 meters, they must be symmetrical with DI boxes and use XLR cables (or female XLR => 6.3 to 3 pin jack plug for entries 13 to 24), use a converter or an external sound card with adjustable sensitivity to the inputs for the computer, use a power conditioner to clean electric power wiring, etc., and yet, I&#39;m not sure with all that, we come to - 78 dB minimum, both take a table for this latest mix. But the problem is only the latest news, there is no other 24 entries so compact ...

OVERALL OPINION

My friend has two, one for his concerts and one for his home studio. For him, the breath did not matter much, even when it saves, so much the better for it ^ ^ For my part, I turn all my stuff that causes unwanted noise audible, whatever its strengths, because I know that unwanted noise is very difficult to remove once registered, and I know that the noise is audible from about -75 or -78 dB.

If for some reason or another, a 24-channel mixing desk rack should not be used for my home studio, I would take a more recent - less than ten years of age - precisely in order to receive latest electronic components This would allow me to better fight against noise. And 24 channels in the tables "recent" relatively inexpensive and compact, there is the Inter-M CMX-2464 for example. Okay, I admit, it takes a little more room ... but at least it is of more recent design. Otherwise, the range on top, there is the Soundcraft MPM 20 (or MFX 20), see Allen & Heart Zed-24 (or Zed FX-22).
