The characteristics of the Clavia Nord Wave are varied and this is overall a versatile synthesizer.  It is a digital synthesizer that models analog sounds and does a pretty good job at that.  The keyboard spans three and a half octaves and it has two different pitch controllers as well as a variety of other options like this.  It has 1/4 inch connections for everything including inputs and outputs and sustain and it also has MIDI connections.

UTILIZATION

While I wouldn't say that it is hard to use the Clavia Nord Wave, it will take a little while to get used to everything going on.  It has a wide array of different parameters, making it possible to get all sorts of synth tones.  You also have another dimension with the software that comes with this that you must learn if you want to use it.  I can't go into all of the parameters that this has as it would take way too long, but suffice it to say that you will have a lot of options for controlling your sound!  The manual for the Clavia Nord Wave is complete and is definitely helpful to understand this synth.

SOUNDS

Many of the sounds you can get with the Clavia Nord Wave are sounds that you would expect from Nord if you have used their synths before.  They are very realistic analog synth sounds and the versatility is great because it gives you endless possibilities to try out.  Like all Nord synths, this is just about as good as it gets for an analog modeling synth without using an actual synth.  You can get all sorts of synth sounds from crazy and weird to traditional lead and bass synth sounds.  This is a very powerful synth containing a variety of great synth sounds.

OVERALL OPINION

All in all, the Clavia Nord Wave is a top notch synth.  I would recommend it to anyone looking for a top end analog modeling synthesizer as this will get the job done for you.  I would also recommend comparing it to the Clavia Nord Lead as it is in the same vein, but the Wave probably has more features because of the software aspect that allows you to zero in on the wave details that you want to alter to get the sound that you are after.  It is definitely worth the price if you are serious about getting a top end synth and needs to be tried out if you are interested in synths of this nature.
