I used a dbx 150 Otari mx 5050 (8 tracks, 1 / 4 ") for years. Each module covered two lanes. Each channel has an encoder input, an output encoder, an input decoder and an output decoder. So four connectors (TRS) per channel. So 8 connectors per module. Four modules were necessary for the eight-tracks, so 32 connectors ... one knob adjusts the level specific input in addition to the traditional four dB/-10dB. It took a screwdriver to move it. it works very well. It was a dream not to be obsessed by the blast. Two modules are "married" to a 19 "rack unit. It was very fun to disengage the receiver and listen to a battery grossly compressed. It was the "good old days" I do not regret ...
