Published on 02/25/02 at 15:00I purchased the guitar as part of "Jumpstart" pack. It included the guitar, a 10w amp, a bag, and a tuner for ~$300 at GuitarCenter. I'm a NEWBIE; this review is given from the vantage point of someone who had never owned a musical instrument before.
So far, it's been a great learner instrument. It sounds good, it seems to be well constructed, and the price was definitely right...I'd have paid $350+ for a GSR200 (the almost identical model not sold as part of a pack) and a practice amp, never mind the tuner, etc.
I get occasional buzz on one fret, but otherwise, no problems. I didn't like the fact that the *black* guitar was $10 more than the *red* guitar, but this might have been GuitarCenter's fault.
Well, it's almost a year after I bought it, and there have been no problems so far. It stays in tune pretty well.
Definitely worth it for a beginner.
