Strip dual mono analog (transistor preamp, comp perspective, no lamps)

For specifications:
- Preamp mic / line / HiZ with input gain, high pass, pad and 48v power supply
- 4 band Equal nonparametric, switch on / off
- Comp optical Controls clasique (threshold, reduction, attack and release), switch on / off. Note for the comp, the CHANNELS are linkable for stereo use. No cons with sidechain input.
- Output Gain
- Having regard to meter per channel with switch (output / reduction)

I put 8 / 10 because the comp does not have sidechain and power button is at the back (a little annoying in a home studio where the devices are not necessarily lit all day)

UTILIZATION

The config is simple, it's analog and this is the greatest strength. No driver, no menus etc ... The knobs, turn, listen, if it sounds when you touch more.

The manual is terse, but at the same time, who has already used a strip is the basis of: a preamp, an equal, a comp ... short, it's not complicated.

Subtlety regarding the labelisation compression settings. Ted Fletcher has chosen the threshold called "compression" to reduce and gain "scope"
Other than that, it's like any comp.

For simplicity, 9 / 10

SOUND QUALITY

Then separate the components:

- The preamp: Nothing special, it's right and rather dry. No special warmth. This is not to my taste the decisive element in this unit. It served its purpose, period. a nice little preamp, rather neutral.

- The equ: idem, equ a good bill, not surprisingly (it is rather a good end, we do not notice side metal is a good equation. When you add the bass, well ... y 'bass and more, finally what you see)

- The comp: aahhh!! where it gets interresting. It is in the spirit jomeek. A comp optical hyper reactive, very dry. This is the main asset of this machine in my opinion. Everything is good: kick / snare / bass / vocals / acoustic guitar / mix or submix. Sounds. And what a pleasure. There's something I can not say what, but there's a special feeling listening to this comp. In short, for me, the main strength of the machine.

OVERALL OPINION

I used it for 3 years.
At the time I was looking for two transistor preamp, and the unit had a good press AF (or even a fad in my opinion). I bought this camera eyes closed, without trying.
I was not disappointed with the preamp, straight and dry.
For cons, I was very surprised by the compressor enjoyable (and even more than that)

I just sell it because I need more preamp for recording and unfortunately for me, buying other stuff through resale. So I am separated. I do not regret the preamp I think, but the comp, certainly.

The device is no longer manufactured. But it can be found in time. For those looking for a good stereo comp 500/600 euros, this device is for you.

Last, the production is English. No worries on that side is clean, well assembled. I trust the longevity of the machine.
