« Zildjian Z Custom 16" Medium Crash »
Published on 03/19/03 at 15:00I bought this cymbal along with a boom stand at Musician's Workshop in Asheville, NC. The regular price is pretty steep, but I bought it slighty used for $110. I bought it to expand my meager cymbal setup.
This is a very bright and brilliant crash. It speaks quickly, then gets out of the way. It blends very well with my ZXT's. It is very loud and raw. The sound could probably penetrate anything you hardcore rockers could throw at it. It is also capable for the sensitivity and warmth the jazz I play requires.
The thing I don't like about this cymbal is the ring. It rings for a long time after the crash. Although this isn't loud, it is annoying to constantly have to grab it when rehearsing. This grabbing totally coats the brilliant finish in ugly fingerprints.
This cymbal is extremely durable. The Z's have a reputation of durability, and they live up to it. This cymbal even looks tough. It looks a lot tougher than the A's.
This is a great cymbal (especially if you can find one that has been used twice and costs $50 less than a new one). As a last note, I would like to request that if you read some reviews, post some so this site grows.
