UTILIZATION
OS really easy, no comparison with 3200 which was to my taste a real ordeal maneuver. I had one before that Beringher ddx32 A tascam 3200 and O1V96. Yamaha for me is the Chinese, impractical in the studio .. Tascam has a hell worse than navigating all the rest. The DDX on the other hand was really an example of functionality that the Tascam 4800 is inspired and is a real plus for them. The manual is enough to know that some digital and menu and submenus. It is the path of an audio signal ...
This is often what's missing users "the logic of a console" ...
I like enormously delaying buttons leveling compressor / gate, and Aux équalo available a jiffy With the fader is sensitive rule all this without looking at the screen, as on the analog gear. More magic menu and sub menu, you touch the fader knob is rotated the listening we do not sound the computer. This is a huge timesaver and flexibility of working in the studio making situation are really nice. Good Flat: Screen too small and fragile as the 3200 ... But I saw the price includes.

Tascam has understood that their consoles are used by musicians and sound engineers not by hardliners. So it goes quickly and well. BRAVO
Fader a bit too soft for my taste, endless knob niquel, layer fader to control your DAW great.
A pretty dress does not spoil anything but blanks in true imitation plastic wood are really ridiculous. Ditto for the plactoc tic and faders which gives the impression in the first moments of being in front of a console Kawai has € 10!
It still requires that for me was a desired effect, customers prefer large tables and large pickups ....
SOUNDS
The convertos they are beautiful forms a good couple with préamplifs and gives a very clear and transparent that people unsophisticated and not qualify handyman see horrible cold (see other review).
We are witnessing a real studio console that respect between the sound ... No flattering color and excessive shine. I love it. I can then stained with a lamp or external peripheral with good plugin. Compression and superb as making tool. Many people uses compression to inflate their sound .... Mastering the dynamics and the role of compressors ... Once again the tascam do a job in the shade. Transparency still ... The équalos are just okay without more, to live they should be less effective in the studio already, not enough music but I think it's a matter of taste. Superb dynamics even 48 .... Bandwidth is wide enough but not an American highway. But you can hear the results of the console on my studio site: Gyro KOUNKOUN example.
No external peripheral ....
In short:
A real dynamic.
Real compressors.
Nice reverb TC.
Race knobs earnings in line with the 3200: (
No starting layer for the purpose.
Optional FireWire card ...
OVERALL OPINION
The studio for 5 years now it is by far the best console I've had.
On the differences from its competitors in price (it does not in fact) it is well suited for the studio. (Yam it horror)
The OS is a clear grip facilitating the work of instinct and so has the former.
These audio qualities but it's small default background in a table with which you can safely assume prod.
She did not fade before has the largest (in terms of price) and compares favorably.
Its price in view of these features is unbeatable.
And of course I would do this choice
