The data sheet is to complte Audiofanzine:

He has ten years but all possde caratristiques of synth-workstation current computing power and memory and less, which is normal (1992).

== == Strengths
- Varis sounds, it goes everywhere, in many styles (house, pop, Latin ,...)
- Squenceur + BAR, the compositions and jams come to life soon
- Solid (ca account)
- Many Settings, IDAL to learn synthse (LFO, envelope amplitude, filter, effects, etc ... everything but the oscillators be replaced by reading samples of plant but they are numerous and all styles, from Sinus or Square to the sound of the bell, piano, brass, etc ...)
- Patches advantageously use these samples to draw trs sounds Different.
- Intgr many effects (including the Aural Exciter feat under license)
- Touch-sensitive

== == Weaknesses
- Sampling embryonic (you must import the samples via floppy disks)
- Not to be trs ais MIDI keyboard matre (but it will rev although a slave)
- You can not put effects on the slopes of DIFFERENT squenceur, just those that dose affects the whole. So we will plutt of pr-models and then go through an audio editor (for effects and other audio tools, but each ... his technique).

In Manir gnrale, it is better to do one thing and do it well, and that several plutt do more moderately. It's his problem. But when I bought 8 years ago, glad to j'tais acqurir all in the same box. All dpend your expansion of your home studio and your budget.

UTILIZATION

Fairly intuitive.

I read the doc for my first real synth c'tait and later to take advantage of the less common features. So I would say easy and enjoyable.

The matrix allows accder menus. Once rpr are explored and found easily.

The screen is readable and trs trs well used despite its large pixels. Like what, a 10x10 screen is not forcment more efficient. Buttons can have multiple use depending on the context, but it is clear trs. No ambigut.

The 8 knobs on the front straight is a good idea, but ultimately I do not use it as a. Compared with vintage synths (vintage or new MIDIF false) custom settings that can affect the knobs are less expressive (in gnral, these are the effects paramtres or the freq / reso filter, or envelopes).

When programming a squence or sound, you end up doing as strum but not on the usual keys :-)

The squenceur is ultra simple. (Not-a-ways not for the patterns, replace, insert, copy, delete, etc ...). For the BAR, we put the tip end patterns which ultimately is used to structure the piece INTERESTED.

SOUNDS

It has aged ... is sr.
It sounds 90s I think. So what?

== == Analog sounds
There are many free patches on the "classic corner" of yamaha synth:
https://www.yamahasynth.com/classic/index.htm
Especially in vintage patches, there are Moog, Prophet, ARP, Roland, etc ... almost all the classics. It is imperative to hear, ca crdibilise the machine.

== == Instrument sounds
The instrument sounds "classic" seemed the least bad the era (it's subjective, but better than Roland, Korg and too synthetic). on the other hand today, with the virtual samplers and samples huge hard drive, Obviously the comparison is difficult. But in a mix of artwork, ca trs trs going well, and is available immediately in the fingers (I speak obviously not of professional quality).

== == Sampling
There are also a web address freeware to convert. Sy85 wav format.
It's 8 bits. Certainly, but you get to have fun dj a bit.

In Manir gnrale, the sounds are quite compresssion natively. What needs to explain that he does trs made by groups of the 90s house.

Wink, sounds will be if you Familis Listen Moby (SY22, especially piano sounds and groundwater), or Toto (David Paich uses the SY99), or Paul McCartney PERIOD 90 '( TG500 uses his claviriste rack version of SY85).

OVERALL OPINION

There is a mailing-list trs not active because the records are largely complete.
http://www.ampfea.org then look for "sy85".

computer music as trs become accessible and efficient, there is now less solution "workstation". But I would say that it's just a sy85 synthtiseur, an expander, a BAR, a groovebox and squenceur in the same box with a keyboard, all over n'tant trs fashion, but all the same high quality (semi-pro). The workstation is useful if your home studio is also your dining room.

It is found in an occasion for any price trs INTERESTED in it.
It is wonderful to learn, because all concepts are in it.
It does not sound absolutely not cheap. It's just that this is not the last sound came out.

We had some great adventures together for 8 years, my sy85 and me, and it goes on! :-)
In the era ft trs my choice wisely. Today I would buy plutt multiple devices, but it would me more (I could not do the era), and also because now I know exactly what I want.

Frankly, it is in the high average.
