The Vestax Typhoon is a DJ controller that has a built in soundcard. It has somewhat of a different style of look with all of the knobs and sliders being red. Most people feel like that wouldn’t bet that big of an issue but to me it just didn’t look great. But the look didn’t affect the performance at all; this controller has all of the needed functions to run a set easily.
Setting this controller up with any software was not difficult at all, though manual does not really cover setting it up in other software applications. It does come with Virtual DJ “limited edition” software. This software will work with audio and video mixing. I have used it in Serato before without any issues or concerns.
There are 4 DJ effects on this unit and it would have been nice to have a few more. You can quickly access and add your filters with this unit by just pushing one button and then using your job wheel to change the parameters of your filter. Also, beat matching with this unit was very easy. Even if you are a “scratching” DJ you can easily scratch with this interface and it will be very clean.
I really enjoyed throwing in effects to the mixes with this interface; it was very quick and easy to do. The audio output to the headphone jack was very good and loud making it easy to monitor the next track before playing it. Everything with this unit was simple to operate and worked well. The only issue I ran into was using it on a Windows computer. Sometimes it would have an unexpected crash, and an unexpected crash is never good! So I was too afraid to try to use this live in too many sets. After having this unit and using it for about 6 weeks, I experienced about 5 crashes. That was 5 crashed too many for me! I am not sure if it was a Windows compatibility problem or if it was a software issue with Virtual DJ.

I don't really have much of a musical background. Just getting started really. I've have a great music collection and recently I have been getting into DJing, I would love to make some well produced mixtapes for my friends, and just have fun coming up with some cool mix tracks.

I bought the Typhoon from ProAudioStar after watching a demo video of their%27s. I used their easy live chat and got $25 bucks off a brand new unit. It arrived in 3 days! holy cow!

It%27s truly plug and play. It comes bundled with Traktor and the controller is mapped to the software pretty perfectly. I didn%27t want something where I would have to configure the MIDI mappings myself, so this was super easy. In a few short minutes I was able to start mixing tracks together. I still have to get better at using some of the features, but I would say its great so far.

Wish it had other outputs, like XLR, but the RCA is fine for me. The spinning platters aren%27t as sturdy as the one%27s on my friend VCI300.

Its not built of steel but for the price i%27m impressed by the construction, seems more sturdy then some Numark units.

Great beginner DJ unit, and you cant beat the price.

Attention-soundcard latency is high it is frankly unpleasant asio4 driver also includes (creaking sound etc.) must be set to 15 anyway

to buy a sound card is 99 euro which have up to 339 euro bill is after for its mix of crazy moves more you can even make the pass and pass scratched
In conclusion:
very good material is clean no problem for evening bag, hip hop etc.
mixes all its only a child's play thanks to the unlimited creativity and effect loop is a very good controller for 239 euro price / quality ratio is the best on the market just now saw vestax

What thing do you like most/least about it?
The pros: Easy to use and configuration, whether with traktor LE (supplied with but limited), Virtual DJ Pro (much more complete but not given, so just tried trial version), or with mixxx (software djing linux ubuntu / debian), weight and size that allow easy transport
The -: limited number of buttons and therefore effects, control ...
+ / -: The jogs are very sensitive (you can adjust the sensitivity), and even if they are not too small it becomes a bit annoying to scratch
Did you try many other models before getting this one?
No in depth, but I tried Pioneer Platinum which I do not remember the reference)
What is your opinion about the value for the price?

it is discussed: it's good (or very good) equipment to start, but shows some limitations when you want to go further

I never used this kind of interface before.

Like its ease of use and its look.

I do not like the equalizer in fader and volume controls and headphone microphone, not easy to achieve.

Value for money probably very good, it's cheap, there's everything you need, it looks fairly robust even if it's only plastic. Attention no illusions about the jog, they serve only to control the filter or browse to a file, accuracy does not allow other use. Attention also at the beginning may be confused with a fader gain equalization, but it only lasts the first time. Latency quite acceptable, Core Audio (Mac).

Installed with Traktor LE, it works impeccable from the beginning.

Yes, I mixai a little Hercules mp3 but it too was a beginner and it was certainly too small.

What thing do you like most/least about it?

Most:
1) The color red, which is its charm
2) The volume pot up / down originals although some dislike
3) Easy to use

Minimum:
1) Onboard Sound, because it does bug or latency caused
2) If one is pro, it quickly becomes limited.
What is your opinion about the value for the price?

It is a bit expensive but it's a good machine and you quickly forget the price an foix hands.
Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice?

Even if it's a good controller in all, I do not do it again this election because I was expecting a little more. So if I saved a lil bit more I became a more efficient
