« Yamaha F310 »
Published on 06/17/02 at 15:00Purchased as my first guitar at Mars Music in Springfield, VA as Yamaha's Gigmaker package (elec. tuner, picks, strap, etc.) for $199.
As a beginner guitar, the F310 is a pretty good buy, especially for the price. It has a good, full sound, and there are some "sweet spots" on the neck where the tone is actually OK.
Doesn't stay in tune worth beans and there are quite a few "dead" frets along the fret board (i.e., the tone flattens a bit compared to the rest of the frets). The fretting for barre chords is sub-par.
The workmanship is what you can expect for the price: the binding is so-so; the tuners are garbage; the bracing could be better; the frets and neck are inconsisent.
OK for the new student, but you'll be ready for a new guitar within a year.
