« Perfect for electric bass »
Published on 01/02/14 at 05:47Sorry for the sound engineers seeking an informed opinion on this amp, I would give my opinion on use hijacked, namely the amplification of an electric bass.
Class D Amplifier
2-channel or 8 ohms w 2x360 or 2x700 W into 4 ohms
Link switch for both channels
Parallel XLR output to route signal
A fan coupled to probe
weight 7 kg
I was tired of traditional bass amps, are too heavy, are not powerful enough on big stages, quality is a bit cheap despite the selling price.
So I went on a rack system consisting of a preamp / DI Avalon U5, a DBX 160A compressor and the power amp.
This is great, but channel preamp / amp gives me great sound quality, no signal degradation at high levels, low to break down the walls (for the class D), it is not cold, c ' is just neutral.
Several advantages with this configuration:
a modular system or I can supply from January to April 8-ohm speakers, my config stage (for the big reggae) is 2 boxes with 2x10 1x15, I then over 1000W in the ass, so I can play softly while fulfilling my role as master low for reggae. For the club, just a 2x10 and then turns on a single channel at 360 W.
Possibility of a pseudo bi-amplification (pseudo because there is no stick over), with a volume per channel, I can send more juice to one or the other speaker config according to the room and speakers.
To the studio, I leave the amp rack, and then I go in the studio with two best friends bassist, the U5 and DBX.
It is said that his quest is like a maze, I'm sure now to be out and have the best amplification system that exists for electric bass (and god knows I owned many amp head).
