Precision is one of 1997, manufactured in the U.S., it has a rosewood handle 20 fret markings and characteristics similar to the details of the American Series late 90's.
UTILIZATION
Used for clarification there are no surprises, the handle off at the nut is a bit difficult for little hands, the ergonomics standard, that is to say timeless as can be Fender bass. Access to acute is no more honest, the bass is not too heavy (perhaps a low of 50-60 years but less than low 70's). Question setting for sound, it is both rudimentary, one microphone, the volume and tone but it's devilishly effective. Corrections deep tone affects the dynamics of sound and the volume helps to balance a surprising level of output in low for a single coil.
SOUNDS
The Precision is a bit like the ugly duckling in the world of fretless. The lack of a pickup deprives the very low harmonic defined it can be a handicap for lovers of the Pastorius. For my part, I am looking for a very raw and it works! With the tone at the bottom, I get super sound pretty close to an acid Ricken with more balance between the strings and by turning the knob Mi tone sound is denser, more reggae without choking. I oscillate between forays into the media free to pick and lines very blues / jazz fingers ranging from low to high. It has the character of Dean electric bass and fretless I find that it saves in subtlety.
OVERALL OPINION
This is my second fretless bass (my first and Precision). I have a few weeks but I waited a long time. I like the simplicity of setting and achieving rapid a very good sound, I find his timeless and still relevant. I tried a lot of fretless: a Takamine B12, a Godin A4, a JV Squier Precision defrettée, a low-end Ibanez défrettée, a Cort acoustic-electric, and I have a fretless Jazz Bass home. I had a chance at a good price, the price / quality ratio leans heavily in his favor, however, if I had to change the bass, it would most likely model for a Tony Franklin signature or a fretless Fender Precision 70's . But that's not the same price. My main regret is the rosewood fingerboard, too fragile to ropes round net, I think Fender should opt for a standard with a Precision Special micro acute and an ebony fingerboard, this definitely correct to the smallest defects.
