« Fender Jag-Stang »
Published on 11/11/03 at 15:00I special ordered the reissue of the Fender Jag-Stang from Guitar Center for 399.99. The retail is 756.99 so I was lucky. I called because it was taking long and they said they had an original Japanese Fiesta Red 1996 version of this guitar for cheaper, it was used. So I went and got it. I paid a few hundred.
If ya'll did not know, the late Nirvana singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain designed it. He combined his two favorite Fender's Jaguar and Mustang. This guitar is pure genius, it has the ability to go from a mellow, soft sound, then when you switch on the switches on the top, it makes this metalish/grunge sound. Its awesome..
I dont like that it has a few dings in it, but that the used quality. It sort of went out of tune quick but oh well. I have no complaints really. Its sort of hard to find parts for the "unit". I wish that they would have had more colors besides "sonic blue and fiesta red" I originally ordered sonic blue, but couldnt wait, so I got this one. Its better because its the original.
Its a Fiesta red, bass wood body. With one single coil pickup, then a special design humbucker. Three way sliding in and out phase switches for the pickups, floating dynamic vibrato.
Just an over round great guitar. Worth the money. I feel sorry for the people who pay thousands of dollars for guitars, when all you need is this one right here. Sure its over 300.00 but dude, its great... if you want that signature messy grunge punk Nirvana sound, this is the guitar for you. This is not your grandpa's campfire guitar, its a lean, mean grunge machine!
