It's been a few months I use this drumkit. As complete beginners at first I struggled to choose one that would suit me. Obviously a Roland TD-20 to almost 5000 euros would have agreed very well  but I could not put this money so thank you to the people of this forum (and others) who have routed to the Press DTX III appears be one of the best electronic drums in this price range.
The first shots of chopsticks are a real treat for beginners, but after a few months, one tires quickly kits pre-recorded in the module ... While the record is opened and there: behold! We realize that the possibilities of this module are almost endless for anyone who will bother to be interested: there are over 1000 sounds in the module (that I knew), but each sound can be mixed with a another using layers (or layer in English). This mix is itself configurable, it provides millions of possibilities ...
The easy course is to buy a higher-end module (or genre DDRUM DTXtreme) which offers the possibility of using external samples, but it's not the same price ...
So for the module, no problem: it is really great for me. You just do not hesitate to open the manual to find out what cache settings are as numerous and completely inaccessible without notice (see also the tips in the forums) ...
At the pads now: AC spoils a bit ... but that's normal: you can not ask of rubber pads to provide the same sensations as real skin. And it's not so bad because the rebound of these pads allows me to make rolls that I can not do it properly on a real snare drum (the purists will hate me). For toms is not really a problem, cons for the snare and Charley that can disturb a little. That's why I bought a snare drum low end, and a mesh skin and trigger DDRUM is happiness: after a small adjustment on the module it works perfectly.
There remains the problem of Charley: in fact it works great, but tap a pad (the same as the toms) bother me a bit, and the pedal is too sensitive for my taste ...
So I still have the solution to buy the Yamaha RHH-130, or Smartrigger which seem to me excellent. But ... but ... I still can not find any forum that I certify that the Smartrigger work well with DTXPRESS III ... ..
Since I bought the Yamaha cymbal three areas, the PCY-150S, and I put the old Ride (1 zone) as China. And have fun as a little crazy ...
In short: great drumkit, but if you have a few euros more, please take the "special DTXpress III" which has a 3-zone ride, an "almost real" Charley and especially a rack slightly larger ( because when you're big, like me, you will soon feel cramped ...)
