USE
Easy to use, I agree kinder_guano when he emphasizes the attention should be exercised by activating the standby but ... We could also liked finding Classified Led light for the stand-by in the dark that n is not easy to know where we are (my Peavey possessed him!)
Otherwise everything is simple, a screwdriver is required to change the impedances (4, 8 or 16) ...
NB: a pad "volume" accessible front lowers the preamp input level from 0 to -10 dB, allowing to maximize the potential of lamps: Great for urban guitarists playing in the apartment! This function allows a rich at reasonable volume levels.
SOUNDS
Yesh ... Indeed ... I'm not going to me again in defense of VHT but ...
It's been a while since I expect this Poweramp I finally purchased and received yesterday.
Impressive: I had a Peavey Classic 50/50 auparavavant (8 x EL84) the difference with the VHT is obvious ...
An incredible and harmonic depth in all directions along with a surgical precision; VHT spitting her watts in both of my V30 2x12 sublime ENGL my JMP1. It's plug & play, it sends immediately, presence and depth to 0 where I trifouillait with Peavey.
I still consider it as an excellent quality / price ratio with its precise and transparent, but the VHT is far ahead.
The different color settings allow the sound depending on the desired result: Class A / B the sound is deep and wide, adding the voicing it becomes enormous; Class A, the sound becomes slamming distos are sharper, I dare say more "modern".
Presence and voicing of the knobs are very effective, on my side I'm not used it, but it will certainly happen depending on the position of my cabinet and room acoustics where I play.
Clean sounds (which are not necessarily the highlight of my Marshall) become deep and warm, it is easier to make the sound cruncher qualifying its game with the peavey and distos are enormous ...
The voicing class A is the ultimate in terms of aggressiveness: distos already incredibly restored, but the voicing adds the right amount of bass and treble to take off the wallpaper in rhythmic play and provides additional accuracy when a solo.
NOTICE GLOBAL
I bought it without testing: I soundtrack few groups who had this Poweramp and was stunned by the sound rendering (I have seen a particular scratch with the preamp Valvulator GP3 + 2/50/2 + MPX G2 are sent in 2x 4x12 mesa ... é-nor-half ssime ...). Today I play a little Epiphone Les Paul equipped SD SH4 (but am on a draft instrument making house features wood Les Paul mahogany / maple / ebony I anticipate Gibson pickups) and the average quality we feel for violin making.
With a good instrument, poweramp is the guitar amp that Ferrari or Rolls are to the car.
