SlapKid

Published on 09/22/13 at 14:22I've never had a guitar like this, and after the great surprises of the mark (Jazzmaster, jumbo, vintage tele) I added to my last bulimia ...
Set neck 22cases Total Access, gender profile slim type Gigi Gigi pitch, 42mm Nut and 49 mid mid to bridge.
Easel kind Tunomatic for bridges but with much more flexibility for harmonic (16mm!), and it holds pressure strings and rests on a metal plate screwed to the table (no inserts). Height adjustment and tilt by 4 screws in the corners, and a plate just above all (that's nice, comfortable, and you can ask the palm without preventing the notes to resonate but tintin for palm-muting).
The type tailpiece jazz is the tether strap, and is screwed through on my specimen.
Finish violin very good, it's clean and aesthetic. Hollow guitar top but full elsewhere (such thinline tele).
Mechanical bath creamy and stable oil.
2 non-split-mini-humbuckers as is, PANEL standard control Gigi.
Knobs ultra low-end, wiring awful oxidized son, covers microphones poorly welded, it smells like an apprentice guitar full nose.
Given the relatively high price I put 4.
UTILIZATION
Featherweight, super nice and very straight neck, low action, good ergonomics sitting is very nice especially as it is quite a fuss vacuum.
Microphones would be artec, but there is nothing written anywhere, I split the neck pickup as usual (addicted to this type of sound).
To use it is very nice.
SOUNDS
So here is the big surprise! She is my other electric guitars is a honky-tonk piano is a piano!
Very tinny but with serious anyway, heavily wooded in the grain, and the two microphones. A very strong character, a must claw.
So should be paired with a specific amp, ac15 kind, I will update as soon as I tested "for real".
On MOOER little monster action (box Celestion tube 10) is really special for me, anyway casseroles and funky rhythm going well. Crunch and distortion should be paid / select the appropriate pedals, no taste or time to time. On my usual setups it's weird, very typical.
The sound is very open, it's probably great for agreements to beatles slightly saturated but I do not play that kind of stuff.
OVERALL OPINION
I can not compare to a Rickenbacker, never tried it, am a little lost here.
Even a 335 not sound like that, not to mention solid bodys.
One thing is certain is that the finish of the electrical part is downright shameful as it is wrong. Yet the microphones are his level.
So I rewired the slapkid (a master volume and basta) shielded cable with real, real welding, a real jack and a true toggle plus a good volume knob / push-pull split.
All it cost and time, more must be equipped, so roros 199 required are exaggerated, especially as the Jazzmaster and vintage telecaster brand (though cheaper) are mounted and used as such.
Violin very well and micros / fittings of good behavior, and it is essential. This is what tempers my final note, I just removed 3 points for work at harley pig.
