I use it for a year and a half, we beginners archarn saturation j'tais that, I cared too much, big mistake!
the sound is clear is simply stunning, on the other hand attention, the guitar must follow drrire, ca is nothing, I think, to mount a 60 on a Chinese violin and company ...
So its super clean, warm and round trs, may be lack of slamming, but he has a personality that's the main!
saturation, it is not on a 81, but for hard rock or even do not worry, though cash ca.
unlike 81, I do it again this choice.

And continue with the active EMG 60 in its ceramic (there is a version alnico).

Used neck pickup coupled with a 81 at the bridge, James Hetfield typical installation, it delivers a highly crystalline. In this position it will be more oriented towards clean sounds.

In clean and void, the sound is glittering and lacks a bit of heat. The EMG are definitely not cut the microphones for clear sound hot but ...
... I was very impressed with the creamy side that can get out of the microwave with a little editing to the equalizer a little chorus and well balanced. The sound of Gilmour's not far, but still keep the balance of a humbucker.

Saturation does not bring more than good, micro sounds no more. It can not be reached no touching. It would even say that he is winded, but I imagine someone using this microphone in rhythm saturated.

The main strength comes crunch. This is where the austerity of micro wonders. He cut vraimment sound and proves a tad grumpy when the teasing. Not really a player, it does the job accurately and breaks an overdrive worthy of the name. Ensure the area where it is more comfortable ...

A dry sound is still a little "bling bling" as they say young people, and it is clear that the 60 lacks a bit of character compared to other brand models.
That said, I have found this creamy with any other micro EMG. It is proving very interesting but relatively ineffective crunch distortion.
Many will find it too dry with a clean sound, especially for sending large agreements. But it will work very seriously in a signal charge in effect, which is a non-negligible quality recording.

I would put an 8: I do not compare the EMG them, or possibly with other active pickups as their use is application specific and to think differently the entire signal. From this point of view, the 60 is too serious for me. Its effectiveness is significant in certain conditions but I find him a little lack of character that makes it a bit austere. Hotter, more aggressive but also more forward-saturation, it ExSite model 85 ...

    ... Stay tuned.

    - How long have you use it?
    More than 2 years.

    - What is so special that you like most and least?
The Pick-up, the choice of master Hetfield is confirmed, neck position, good for clean, the crunch, and distortion. The sound is warm for an asset is really surprising. 81/60 The combination works great.

    - Have you tried many other models before buying it?
    Seymour and Dimarzio

    - How would you rate the quality / price?
    Very good.

    - With experience, you do again this choice?
    Without hesitation.

    One trick pony EMG

For many years EMG was the only name in the active pickups department. The EMG active pickups use a pair of rail magnets with a built in preamp. As you probably know active pickups require a battery to power them. Rail magnets are better than the normal magnets used in pickups because there is no gap in the signal. When you bend a string with normal pickups the string moves slightly away from the magnet that string is associated with, and you get a slight decrease in signal. With rail magnets there is no gap in detection of the string vibration. With EMG's they can also use weaker magnets due to the fact that the signal will be boosted in the preamp. With the weaker magnets the magnets cau…

With rail magnets there is no gap in detection of the string vibration. With EMG's they can also use weaker magnets due to the fact that the signal will be boosted in the preamp. With the weaker magnets the magnets cause less interference with the strings. The strings are very sensitive to how powerful your magnets are. High output passive pickups can reduce the sustain of your guitar with all the magnetic drag These active pickups run on a battery to power the preamp. You will need a 9v battery in your guitar to make these pickups work. The 60 is designed to be clean alternative to the 81 and the 85. This limits the pickups use in metal where you would normally use active pickups. This pickup is pretty much a neck only pickup. This guy does not have the output of the 81 or the 85 and does not sound that great with high gain distortion. This pickup is best for cleans. Its most famous user is James Hetfield from Metallica. He used this pickup in the neck position of his guitars for many years and used it for its clean tones. Clean tones are something that Is usually not too good in active pickups so EMG made one just for cleans. So this is a good neck position pickup if you are running an active bridge pickup and dont intend on using the neck position for any high gain stuff.

The EMG 60 is probably the only pickup you should ever get if you decide to go active! It's clean, and it's dirty in the best ways! famous as a neck pickup only and never as the bridge pickup. I've never actually tried it in the bridge pickup.

The cleans are glassy and shimmery yet not thin. It's VERY clean. Very very clean! Just listen to all the newer metallica or metallica S&M or EVERYBODY else that uses EMGs! 60s have been the trademark neck pickup for EMG.

The EMG60 on the neck pickup is also, of course amazing. Clear, fluidy, not too muddy, not thin, and great for solos. I don't generally use the neck pickup on high gain for anything else as it's generally too thick for rhythms and …

EMG pickups are one of a kind, and cannot be imitated. There has been many other companies making active pickups trying to match the EMGs but I've always been happy with them when I was into active pickups for years and years and years.

Though this pickup sounds great. It again does have its faults. It being active, as I mentioned in my previous EMG reviews, cannot seem to be as dynamic as a passive pickups would be and do not clean up well with the volume rolled down. Thus the rating. And this is of course, aside from the fact that most non-active players don't like the whole changing battery thing. Though it's a very minor thing it's less often than changing strings! So this review is already assuming that one KNOWS it's an active pickup and does NOT base a review on the battery requirement.

Overall, one of the better active neck pickups out there! Quiet, clean, tight, clear and smooth! Perfectly balanced and flexible!

    Best for cleans

    EMG 60Published on 04/05/11 at 10:28
The EMG 60 mainly got its popularity thanks to James Hetfield of Metallica. He ran this pickup in the neck for the longest time as his main clean tone pickup. This is the original ceramic magnet version of the pickup, and it’s an active pickup which means it runs off of a power source – in this case, it’s a 9V battery.

The EMG 60 is a pickup that’s getting a bit dated today, but it is still a decent pickup. It doesn’t push the amplifier as much as the EMG 81 or 85 do, and its main thing is to remain clean sounding. The biggest benefit is that it can be run without a buffer during long cable runs thanks to the built in active preamp. This also helps keep it very quiet and avoid RF in…

The biggest benefit is that it can be run without a buffer during long cable runs thanks to the built in active preamp. This also helps keep it very quiet and avoid RF interference, especially during live situations.

The pickup itself actually sounds very close to a single coil at times. It’s bright with some average bass and linear midrange. The pickup doesn’t sound that great with distortion, but it works pretty nice with clean tones. It almost has this hi-fi vibe going on. Some people have put this in the bridge, but I find it just gets way too bright. In the neck, it can work, but I still prefer the 85 to this pickup, personally. The 85 just sounds bigger, despite it not being as clear sounding.

If you’re looking for a better clean tone, I recommend checking out the EMG 60 or EMG 60A. They’ll deliver some decent cleans which tend to be somewhat dismal with other active pickups. However, if you’re looking for a good lead pickup, I recommend either the EMG 85 or the 81. I think both of those pickups sound much better under gain. The cool part is that the new EMGs are all quick disconnect, so you can experiment without having to resolder everything.
