Published on 02/24/14 at 11:40These pickups are very good or excellent. I had never heard of this brand until I gain my Gibson Explorer Bill Kelliher signature (with the possibility of split) which is originally equipped.
Despite their high power, they are doing really well in most situations.
In its clean, better to use the neck pickup for the bridge pickup is pretty badly saturate the amplifier when the right hand appears quite virulent. Under these conditions, the sounds appear rather balanced at all frequencies despite a slight bump in the midrange that brings a nice presence. In split, sounds clearly like a Strat and being possessor of two Fender Stratocaster Relic with a 60 Custom Shop, it is really really far, it is quite surprising, despite the extra power compared to a Strat! Even the pickup is beautiful!
With distortion, it has a good compression in an afterlife silence. The pickups respond very well to the demands of the right hand and crunch to pass a death metal madness in a split knob. There are a lot of available gain (rather than on the EMG 81 that I know well) and most impressive is that these pickups are very articulate. The slight bump in the mids found clean sound is found in the saturated and can well stand out in a mix.
On complex chords, all notes differ really a treat!
In a détunage, microphones are cleans and precise, it is rather impressive for passive pickups! It retains the accuracy and the high register while this becomes more serious without being intrusive.
In summary, these pickups are very punchy, with a real clean sound and powerful but accurate saturations.
Compared to EMG (85 and 81 in particular), the pickups are more powerful, rock n 'roll through the small bump in the midrange, more versatile but also more "crushed" in the sound in the sense that they are more compressed. Moreover, they are very surprising in its clear and low tunings. I would recommend these mics guitarist looking for a good versatility with powerful pickups without sacrificing the big metal distortion. I still keep my EMG I am a big fan of Gibson guitars.
