« Dean Evo FT »

$359.00 - Musician's Friend. Could have gotten it for less had I waited and looked around a bit more.

Les Paul style mahogany body with a flame maple veneer top. The transparent amber finish really lets the flame maple show through from a great distance. Neck-through construction, Grover tuners and tune-o-matic bridge. The Dean Zebra pickups are very, very hot, and they are coil-tapped so you can get some very distinctive tones out of this axe. Quite lightweight for an LP style guitar and the neck is like butter.

There's nothing to find fault with except that I paid $50-$100 more than I should have, but don't let that make you think the guitar isn't worth the price I paid, or perhaps more. If you're looking for a Dean Guitar, head to www.deanguitars.com and go to the forum and ask around. You'll find what you want at a better price than most online vendors.

Top-notch quality, top-notch construction. Dean's imports never cease to amaze me for their bang-for-buck ratio. The neck joint on the Evo is carved in a way that allows your hands to easily access the upper register. This type of neck joint should be used on every guitar made as far as I'm concerned.

This axe is hard to put down. With the coil-tapping, I can easily get any sound from a meaty Les Paul to a slinky Stevie Ray Vaughan strat sound with many variations in-between. The folks who've seen, heard and played my Evo think it's easily a $700-$1000 guitar.
