SlapKid « A little work to predict the great paul »
Published on 03/23/13 at 16:11Purchased in late 2011, they arrived by series very very limited at the time (had to be reactive!).
China, gloss, gold carved table top of course, is quite clear wood color.
Rosewood, inserts typical Gigi, set neck, of course.
Mechanical vintage type but beware, unlike those Gigis then take very good agreement. If you want change you need to drill bigger delicate.
Frets correctly installed, nothing exceeds it's all good.
The profile of the neck is fat 50s, like my les paul studio worn Gigi brown, delicious.
Two p90, no noise when they are together, the control panel also typical.
UTILIZATION
First, only two negative points encountered:
The nut was not cut quite so many strings too high, I had a job and it is difficult to achieve correct.
The welds were sloppy, just need to resolder all (iron alone, no need wire actually). As I intend to customize not important.
The guitar weighs his weight, ouch. But what a pleasure to play, the neck is a delight and her vacuum is already very good.
Compared to my Gigi handle me right appears less (minimum action without bordering is a little higher) despite adequate adjustment of truss-rod. This is especially noticeable when the box is 12me.
SOUNDS
Stock mics are much better than the price suggests, and different Gibson original in that they are adapted to their position (neck-bridge, in Gigi is the same twice) and the neck is rwrp for cancellation of parasites in an intermediate position.
Their sound is more cunning, less fat, more than I like Gigi (I have a 60s tribute), and the absence of parasites through can save your skin in concert (I exaggerate only!).
I like experimenting with other configurations of microphones that's all for this chapter ...
(Except that the maximum depth of the microwave cavity serious offers only 24mm from the bottom flush button is bound to install something else ...)
OVERALL OPINION
Well, hope that the current series is let them play as is a nut for resizing and redo the welds is not great if you start ... and in general!
This guitar has a very gibson feeling more than his sister that I recently acquired and holds up well distance (not badly played for 16 months) in the sense that the frets do not wear out prematurely and the handle has unchanged.
A good basis in fact, I already tested several mics above and it sounds and it is always a sign of good craftsmanship.
