« A good guitar! »
Published on 07/04/13 at 09:07My Eastwood Airline 2p was made in Korea. The finishes are good, and it came pretty well set (playable directly).
We have a guitar with two microphones (one handle and a bridge) alnico Hot-10 (which equip several guitars Eastwood brand), and a three position switch. For each microphone, a button assigned volume and "tone" independent for each well. Finally a knob "master" general for two microphones.
The bridge is a Tune-o-matic type mechanical are Kluson type (they take the agreement).
The body is mahogany carved (chambered).
The neck is maple with rosewood fingerboard. Warning there are only 20 frets (but do we really need more?)
The look is obviously unconventional, but that's what makes the charm of this guitar.
I think I made the rounds on the design.
UTILIZATION
This guitar, despite this strange look, is relatively enjoyable to play. It is well balanced and the shape does not interfere with the game, whether you are sitting or standing.
The body dug it very lightly.
On the run I've seen better, especially with Gibson (and Epiphone), Fender (or Squier) or Ibanez. Indeed, one of the 2p airline is a bit thicker, but do not go thinking that it's unplayable because it is much larger, and once used, there is no problem. The difference with other finer sleeves is really minimal.
Access to acute is very easy, no problem at this level and we quickly found a good sound once we tried a little all the knobs.
The switches and knobs are placed over the microphones, one might think that it can interfere in the game, but not at all.
SOUNDS
Regarding the sounds, the Eastwood Airline 2p is relatively versatile, but more oriented "Hard Blues". Fans of White Stripes or Black Keys find happiness if they have the proper amp and pedals. With a Big Muff, you can quickly find a very nice sound.
Independent knobs for each microphone (tone and volume) and the switch allow a multitude of combinations.
I recommend still playing this guitar on all tube amp. The sound is greatly improved (I tested the difference between my Vox AD15VT hybrid transistor lamp, and epiphone valve senior all-tube, the sound is much better with the senior valve).
The pickups are pretty accurate, and the example of the big muff is a pedal that gives a quick way of porridge with microphones, microphones here make the famous "dirty" sound without hearing boiled some people criticize this pedal.
OVERALL OPINION
What can be learned from this guitar: A look fabulous finishes more than adequate, a typed her but still flexible (within reasonable limits, of course), and specific enough microphones.
I had this guitar on sale, but the price charged is normally about 700 to 750 €. For the price I got, there is not to procrastinate, this is a very good guitar, or even excellent (she would have been 10/10), that said, we must be realistic, and despite the may look like, € 700-750 is a short, and if you are interested in this eastwood airline 2p, I suggest anyway to try and other guitars before making his choice.
Taking into account the price normally charged, so I gave it a score of 8, as it is a good guitar, but in a style still defined (so be sure of its purchase).
