«  The Fender version of the Ibanez RG »

Published on 09/29/14 at 07:54
Best value: Poor
Guitar made from 1991 to 1993 in Japan for Fender in the same plant as Ibanez JEM. With a Licensed Floyd Rose vibrato Takeuchi, mechanical oil bath Gotoh, a blocker of strings, a bolt-on maple Ultra slim "U" radius 17 "(431.8 mm distance jumpers / nut 25.5" (648 mm) column, a rosewood fingerboard and a basswood body. 24 frets, DiMarzio Super 3 humbucker in bridge position, DiMarzio Super Distortion in the neck position, a Fender single coil in the mid position. A volume boost with Fender TBX and tone. A 5-way switch.

UTILIZATION

The neck is very thin and very fast. It is light and access to the treble is super easy. The sound is very close to the Ibanez Jem and RG. The sound is clear. The boost is effective and allergy TBX sound palette.

SOUNDS

It is developed to a base for the metal and Shredders guitar. Besides, she was endorsee by Vinnie Moore for recording her 3rd Album. Its precise, crisp and allows for saturation with a lot of effects that sound not drool. It has a Dark side a little with the original pickups. Personally I changed the pickups by a micro Chopper Dimarzio DP 184 in the middle, a Dimarzio Air Norton in neck DP193BK to have very pure clean sounds arpeggio and Seymour Duncan Custom Custom STB-11 bridge to bring more Heat one side and more vintage crunch.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 7 years. This guitar is great for making Satriani and consort to record arpeggios Marillion and generally for progressive rock. It is complementary to a Sabre Ibanez and has a rather unique sound. This guitar was sold 930 dollars in 1991 Fender has produced guitars under the Heartfield brand from 1989 to 1993 the end the passion for heavy metal and hard rock in the early 90s, the devaluation of the Yen conjugated the high price of these guitars are trained to stop their production.
These models become difficult to find and therefore collector, especially in the United States.
