« Not terrible. »
Published on 05/06/14 at 14:44The amp has a clean, several saturations, not too much, but enough to cover all needs. Who really needs 30 different Satus indeed?
The effects are good, really, especially reverb, balanced, whatever the position of the potentiometer. Can register with an iPad / Pod.
UTILIZATION
Operation is extremely simple, it works like an analog amp. No sub-menus or other dirt etc screen unreadable. Easily found a sound ... as to which see below.
You can push the amp hard, it does not vibrate, it does not saturate. I think we can do with a small concert in a bar.
Can register with an iPad / Pod but not with Android. on the other hand, and it is very poorly explained on the website of Roland, any mp3 player can swing a playback on the Cube. Me, I plugged the PC on, it worked very well. The Roland app for Ipad / Pod is very basic. The sound is not digital, it's analog recording. Basically, it was the loss, much like a tape like in the good old days, with very little perceptible breath anyway. The dumbest is still unable to record without playback or so, create an empty file in Audacity for example. Can slow down, speed etc, with a satisfactory result.
SOUNDS
Ben here, sound. It's not terrible children. It is even very bad indeed. If you do not push too distos, it can go if you're not demanding, but once you pass 11am-noon, it gets really bad. In fact, it seems to have turned on the amp board, it sounds carton. Moreover, when a playback password is above is the same impression. This is surely due to HP, which greatly compresses the sound.
The clean is pretty decent, especially with the reverb.
OVERALL OPINION
I wanted to give a chance to the amp, keep the test. But nothing to do, the sound is not good. Actually, not really better than the old Minicube Roland, purchased in 2003 though. It makes you wonder what Roland damn all this time. I preferred to keep my pedalboard Zoom G3 with her little looper very easy to use, connected multimedia speakers powerful enough but basic, it sounds a thousand times better. So I sold my stuff with relief.
