Published on 05/04/12 at 03:14I ordered this cable from Lava kit along with a "free settle" for my pedalboard.
Personally I did not too often discussed the differences between cables as one remains in the high end. I was convinced that as this was a quality cable, everything sounded substantially similar. I've had dozens of different brands of cables and I have never heard any significant difference. I took this cable out of curiosity more than anything else because I was not unhappy at all of my Rock Monster.
The cable is strong section but remains flexible enough anyway. It's purple ... Well ... The connectors are the assembly and quality very seriously.
When I plugged the guitar with the ultramafic I had a shock! I started looking for a problem in my gear, checked the amp settings, guitar ... The sound was ... amazing! Much more acute, harmonics like it came from a exiter.
Intrigued, I unplug the cable, I put the Monster. I immediately found my sound. The difference is very far from subtle, it's downright blatant.
Compared to the Monster lacks precision in the low and eats a lot of really sharp. After several hours of A / B test (without effects of course, just the guitar and amp) I notice that the lava is much more transparent and retains much less frequency. We must therefore do the adjustments on the amp. A little more bass as they are sharper and less messy and a bit less treble (I had unconsciously compensated for the lack of Monster).
There really is a vamp! As if I had a new guitar and new amp! The sound is much more three-dimensional harmonic richness and with a separation of grades magnified. If this cable was certainly adds nothing to the sound (it's a passive cable anyway) it has the merit of not eating the signal unlike these competitors I thought good so far ...
In short, I never thought I would do one day a review on a cable but the change is so radical that it was worth sharing. From now on I will be very careful before choosing my cables, even in the high end. The ultramafic is just amazing and really transmits the sound of my guitar to my amp.
