Because of their very tight budget, I bought 6 PA302 with a Crown amp for sound reinforcement XTi1000 a gospel group with 15 singers (taken by 4 room mics) and 4 musicians. The console is a 01V96. The band often plays in churches and sometimes in concert halls.
The sound of this speaker is very accurate. Snare slap in the midrange though, the treble voice of the Charleston or ride high and are filled with harmonics. Basses are matte, they do not reason in the fund.
For cons, the chamber has all this potential but before we get there, there are a few adjustments!
When I tested the first time after unpacking, I heard many mediums, a little less treble and virtually no grave.
So luckily I was pushing these speakers with an amplifier incorporating a digital processor Crown completely customizable. So, using a computer plugged into the USB on this amp, I have created in the processor, a preset dedicated exclusively to these speakers. I among others available in the software, EQ, two shelving filters and a synthesizer sub-harmonics (sub-woofer). Finally, after 1 hour of manipulation, I got a sound that, to my ears, was downright jaw-dropping for a speaker of this price! To give you an idea, the quality is decent home studio monitors between 250 and 400 € the enclosure.
Of course, if we were near an L. Acoustics MTD112 or enclosure of the range D & B, we certainly hear a real difference but the price is not the same either! Here we speak of a pregnant amateur, for the price (155 €) has everything a great!
In conclusion, having heard many other speakers from my job, I think the fans, bands or DJ, can throw on this forum. Provided, however, have at least an equalizer at the output of the console to modify and adapt its frequency response that is not initially optimized (like all small speakers, even the pro, which is added a processor provided by the manufacturer).
