« Always with my guitar! »
Published on 01/13/11 at 06:03This is an Overdrive pedal very simple:
- 1 input & 1 output jack
- 3 pots (Gain, Tone, Level)
- 1 footswitch (quiet and lightweight)
The 100% analog like we did it again not long ago.
Result: ant consumption (battery for dozens of hours of use)
UTILIZATION
I bought without a manual. But it is an effects pedal ultra-simple: we want to change the gain (= the distortion), turn the Knob, ditto with the level or the general tone.
Recommended connection:
Plow = TS-5 = [Wah-wah] = [effects] = [preamp / calculator] = amp or console or in direct
(At one time I was chaining TS-5 Cry-Baby Multi-Effects Zoom 8080 POD 2 before an amp or mixer or direct in my computer)
Yes, contrary to what the manufacturers recommend effects (distortion and wah), I place before the Wah because it is very transparent and there it makes better sense to me.
SOUND QUALITY
Is a slight overdrive, designed to reproduce the sound of a tube amp (clean sound) grown to 12 when the amp stops at 10, basically. And she does well: the sound of the guitar is always respected and earnings will range from very little frying frying complex.
Ideal for all forms of blues, I have repeatedly used as a boost for solo's clear (so with a little fried) or saturated.
The range of earnings do not allow the Metal, but before a crunch or drive channel, it adds a little something (not always interesting, for that matter).
And despite all analog, no breath (or very little) in normal conditions.
OVERALL OPINION
I use for almost 15 years and despite my musical orientation variables (blues, pop / rock, hard rock, jazz) it always makes me service.
Main drawback: the tone (coupe-haut/coupe-bas) which is not used much in the state.
The model TS-5 was the reissue modernized TS-9 before IBAN decided to make an exact reprint. At the time, I tried the 2 (beginning of the reissue TS-9) and that one had packed more.
Bought 300 or 400 FF (45 to 60 €) Used, used for hundreds of hours since, I can say it was a very good buy.
If she let go tomorrow, I would look probably the same.
