Overdrive by Maxon reissue its circuit originally manufactured under the acronym for Ibanez TS-9.

IC JRC 4558D.

Difference compared to the original, it is true-bypass.

UTILIZATION

Three knobs and a switch it should go to control the most famous (or almost) in the world pedal.

SOUND QUALITY

Everything has been said about this legendary overdrive in my case it's hand through Santana much better known at the time in the 80's that I discovered this pedal. It was only later that I discovered that Stevie Ray Vaughan was also used.
This gives a good idea of the sound palette of the OD-9 (or TS-9) since it is the same thing.
Another story, few people around me used it in the 80's because the Ibanez pedals were rarer and more expensive than the Boss pedals.
Internet has greatly contributed to its reputation, and crisis GAS also ...

OVERALL OPINION

For me a simply magical overdrive with single coil pickups is the overdrive in terms of which all other pedals are judged.

For fun, and defuse some ideas one day doing a comparative OD-9 (or TS-9) with an Ibanez TS-7.

Among the many clones of this pedal it is one that I find amazing is the Vox V810, its signature sound is slightly different, softer and more progressive, a little less than medium. I also really like the Fulltone Full Drive (non-mosfet), which offers a lot more options, but the basic circuit is also the same.
