Published on 10/29/11 at 05:16I can not get on it ...
I put a note for the pedal is solid and well damn, nice switch and knobs exude quality.
UTILIZATION
General Setup could not be more simple and less original. For players to tap a little hardened, turn the knobs with your feet is as difficult as a boss, it will teach you, you bunch of lazy.
The manual ... Oh yes, I seem to remember there were some basic settings to check. Honestly, who needs a manual for that?
I put a good quality score sheets and good response from the pedal to most power supplies (rather than 9V ...)
SOUND QUALITY
The OD9 as the original TS9 (yes, I know, these are not exact replicas, friends purists JRC4558D thing thing, this op-amp that costs something like ten cents), works wonders on an amp tube (Koch Studiotone for my part) and in groups. Indeed, as it tends to eat a little low, you come out of the mix very easily. And it creamy! With single or double, is happiness, but the reaction is of course different. Headroom to correct an OD, but it's a little drool in the last third. The clean boost is slightly colored, ideal to compensate for the low prevented that out of the mix with a Big Muff, for example.
This is the ultimate overdrive, I can only put a 10? I will stay at 9, for among those I had the opportunity to try, there are not comparable because they are too different and complementary (Fulltone OCD, very straight, Muffin EHX Français, color different, a blast and an ordeal for the pedalboard, Marshall BB2, low-mids, more compressed the grain, which I keep next to the green box, and others), and then others that are clearly in the same court: Jacques Tubeblower, a bit more expensive but with more finesse and gain a wonder that deserves its 10, as well as the T-Rex Mudhoney, which has its own color, less close to OD9, but puts everyone agrees with its unconventional musicality.
OVERALL OPINION
I have this pedal for 3-4 years, but has revealed his potential since I bought my Studiotone there is a little over two years. The OD is a joy. Not overdrive the most surprising, but it does its job very well and simplifies the lives of a group, which is not insignificant. I've tried a lot since then, I even "preferred" one or two to one. But it is she that I have kept, and not just about money. Besides, I do not sell it and I think I never will. Even if I end up on a Mudhoney crack one of these days.
As I compare it to Jacques and T-Rex, I can hardly make complaints about the price, but without messing around, the scheme is profitable for life sentence, it is time to sell less than 100 euros now. You can darken any event on the occasion, it is indestructible, that stuff there.
