I bought this saxophone 6 months ago. I test the main store and Yana MODELS Selmer before making my choice.
Of course, everything is a matter of budget.
If you have no limit, a Selmer Super Action III is a gem. That costs a whopping 3000 minimum ...
But in a more affordable price range (1500 - 2000), the S901 Submitted a report-quality unbeatable price.
Yanagisawa is rput for quality of soprano saxophones. He holds the high Drage Selmer for years on the soprano.
Over the budget I had, I had the choice between the S901 and a Super Action II (qd-even more expensive). I had a jou SA-II a few years ago, and I will appreciate the quality of the saxophone (cltage, accuracy, richness of sound, etc.)
Comparing one then the other, I prfr the playing comfort of S901. Yanagisawa has a trs cltage enjoyable, dynamic, playing comfort brought by a good position right thumb, which quickly fatigue (I play without cord).
Its level, the Selmer aficionados will no doubt trying to stay on Selmer. That said, I highly recommend their attention to prter Yanagisawa. Although I tried sr MODELS premium Yana (S991, S992, etc.), which offer a greater harmonic richness.
But the S901 is dfend trs well, the sound is round, shiny plutt. If you are looking for a more matte (more "vintage") copper alloy prfrez version (a bit more expensive, of course).
I test all the saxophones with a spout Yana 5 * (sold with the S901). It is not open, someone who adapted the play takes on this demanding instrument trs!
Conclusion:
I bought the S901 at Thomann 1666 in July 2005. For that price, I think it is unbeatable.
If you have a smaller budget, and you its eyes on the Yamaha YSS-475, for example ... Tip: You Save a little and take the S901. What a Difference!
