« Peavey Transformer 112 »
Published on 10/22/01 at 15:00I bought this amp at a local music store - Sodja Music. I looked around for a while and picked this amp because it is loaded withi features. I have to admit I was a bit leary about Peavey only because I didn't have much experience with their products. I paid $530 for the Transformer 112.
This amp has a bunch of effects built in and can replicate almost any amp sound. There are 16 factory presets and space for you to store 16 others. The controls on the front of the unit are easy to understand and I was familiar with everything in 1 night of messing around with it. The unit comes with a foot switch that allows you to switch between all the saved presets and user settings. The foot switch looks a little confusing at first, but is really simple to operate. The sound out of this amp is really nice too. I've never owned a Marshall or a Fender amp, but it knocks the socks off of my Roland amp.
The only thing that bugs me is the power switch is on the back. I know I'm being picky, but that is really the only thing that I don't like.
This amp is solid - I think it weighs in at around 50 pounds and the construction is superior.
If you're looking for an amp that will give you a lot of bang for the buck, this one is for you. It is a little more pricey than some of the other Peavey models (e.g. the Bandit), but you are really getting a lot for your money. It has a delay, distortion, phaser, tremlo, reverb, chorus, flanger and a few other effects I can't remember off the top of my head included.
