Simple Jack
Published on 12/02/07 at 02:18
- Solid state amp.. - 100 Watts, two HP 12 '. - 3 front panel jacks : that is one separate for each channel and one for two channels at the same time. At the rear, two I / O for effects loops for each channel, one footswitch jack (that I don't have), an I / O Master, two jacks for speakers. - Both channels offer the same controls and that is Drive, Bass, Mid, Treble, Reverb Level, and one sole Master Volume.
UTILIZATION
- Rather simple configuration, although many sound variations are possible. - You easily get a good clear sound, distortion, even moderate, is immediately aggressive, a slap! - The manual probably does not exist anymore, it is an old model that I bought second hand, but I still have found it on the net (if you need one, contact me) .
SOUNDS
- I make much noise, etc. metal, and frankly I found it there. - I only play with a new Ibanez EXR170 and with that one already I could feel the potential of this amp. - With the onboard effects, you can switch between styles broadly, the reverb is top notch. Not always very audible but with some tweaking you really get a good sound, the distortion is strong but not enough for metal, I use an effect as well. The basic sound are all suitable, although the Sunn brand is highly recognizable !
OVERALL OPINION
- I just bought it but I have already adopted it. I heard much about it before buying it.
- I love the fact that both HP are not aligned (as in fact they are recessed from the centre...), I only regret not to find a footswitch. - I do not have much guitar experience, but I tried a few other amps, and this one is really good. - No report about quality/price ratio, since I don't know how old it is and how much it was worth when released. The least I can say is, in good condition as it is, such a 100 Watts amp with such a drive, is worth every penny. - If you see one, buy it without hesitation.
