- In which country was it made? (United States, Japan, Mexico, France ...)
As you ask for clarification:
Your Schecter is probably remarkable.
Unfortunately ... the guidance of "milhouze" if they actually correspond to your guitar pose some problems ... Because it is / would then not "a Schecter Stratocaster Red 70", like Knopfler, but significantly different.
In particular: the words "Lead Schecter Guitars" (is it good?) Shows that it is not an original Schecter, but: is a guitar "post David Schecter," Made in Texas ( see below) or a Schecter KIT, assembled for example by Lead Guitars (see this in detail with them, I know of nothing in any of their contracts with the brand at that time, and see below).
=> It is in fact that many "Schecter", given the success of the brand, were set up - especially in Europe - from replacement parts. These "kits" - that made these pieces from the success of the brand - and were joined by various makers such as Roger Giffin permitted in GB, Gary Levinson in Switzerland ...
=> The original Schecter - the "golden age" of David Schecter / Tom Anderson, which I think you are referring - do bear mention on the butt that the name "Schecter" - the brand being Schecter Guitar Research, and no "Lead Schecter Guitars".
=> As referred to Knopfler: we hear actually play Schecter for the album "Making Movies" - and this album almost exclusively -. Schecter's "red" in 1980.
=> In 1983, the brand was sold to Texas and the box has been "relocated" in Dallas - virtually no employee / luthier has followed this unfortunate move, this is an important -.
It is easy to check if your model dates from this period "Texas", in fact:
1 What is the serial number? Or rather - not to be indiscreet - where is it located and, also, simply, what "form" is it? (ZZ-XX-XXX-Z or AA-RRR etc.).
2 ° "milhouze" says that these "three Seymour Duncan" This confirms that the time "Texas." The original pickups are Schecter, with the system "taped" and an ultra special stamp.
3 Related: it indicates that the selectors are two positions, as they are for the time and the model that you suspect to 3 positions.
4 Same again for the mechanical "Kluson" ...
Hoping not to disappoint you too - the main thing being that you are fully satisfied with your instrument!
NOTE PROBE:
I rely on the information data "milhouze", and I do not know if they correspondantent well in your model.
Allow me to intervene because I am fortunate to be able to follow in detail the history of the brand, for friendship / for some of the pre-makers cited as being "at the time" super fan Dire Straits, and - finally - in me buying three models, in 1980/1981, including the famous "copy" Strato (yes, ruining, but I have never regretted!).
Cordially
