Published on 12/01/13 at 13:23Audio-touch (made in France) "c-buss" analog stereo compressor and a digital controllable via plug-in in a DAW Mac / PC.
-Fully analog signal path with or without transformer (vintage fashion).
Vu meter in / out and gain reduction.
Command in front of all the parameters of the compressor.
-Input / output-balanced XLR inputs and external side-chain stereo XLR!
Input-output noon for control via plug-in (16 chainable units!).
A true-bypass relay (asset extinction!)
Alim-Integrated transformer ring.
-All in a single rack unit 19.
External and internal-flawless finish
UTILIZATION
-The general configuration initially seem somewhat confusing at unpacking the unit but quickly takes it taste!
-Parameters are adjustable via a single encoder / rotary / push button after selecting the required parameter (threshold, attack, ratio, release, make up gain, ect ...).
Settings-each has a central button selection, surrounded by LEDs indicating the setting, editing become a breeze!
-Feature of the device a "DYNESS" mode has 4 positions (off.L1.L2.L3) to choose between three slopes of a high pass filter to not detect the signal of serious, a kind of side-chain internal to the way a Distressor!
-A "isosonic dyness" button to go back and soften the medium to 6kHz. with 3 settings can L1.L2 and L3.
-Not always present on some compressor but so useful, the C-BUSS compressor has a mix control between the direct sound and compressed audio.
-A button activates (relay) the external sidechain stereo rear inputs are symmetrized XLR PLEASE!
-The vintage mode button allows you to change the audio signal to the type of transformer OEP (OXFORD ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS) - A262A7E - ratio 1 +1:1 +1 .. (Jensen why not?).
-All settings are remembered and rechargeable directly from the camera .. (Not necessarily easy and fast to be readable), in this case it is best to use the plugin that controls the rack (on mac / pc vst.au.aax.rtas size!), And this is the + great machine! of total recall from the DAW on a hardware machines ...
SOUND QUALITY
-In normal mode (without dyness or isosonic or vintage fashion) a superb transparency!
Them dyness isosonic modes and are extremely effective, the vintage mode is not bad .. but not in a vintage type lamp not more ..
It remains more fun than this compressor is capable of reproducing compression types of some kind Neve 33609 or SSL G bus master PLC or machine. (A similar setting on a 33609 it is almost copied / pasted to the ear!)
-Untrained users will probably a little disturbed at the start without taking a few precautions:
Indeed, this compressor provides adjustment ratio, attack, release, classic but not necessarily conventional, such as the attack starts and a 0.01 ms 0.05 sec was sagging, which can provide some very strange effects on interest but solo instruments have more effect than a sensation of compression.
- In normal use, on a bus or a solo instrument instrument, c-buss works great .. personally used on a bus or a vocal or drum beats bus, I can not have me in the past! it is clean and it works well!
the speed limiter mode seems to me less effective than the rest must go nicely otherwise have got fast .. (like most analog limiters also market!).
OVERALL OPINION
- I might even say much, as the possibilities of this compressor are many, but it is best to adopt!
- I use it for 3 weeks and the biggest advantage of this machine is: efficiency and space-saving! (1U. Configurable full and total recall via plugin or not!) Take almost have to be in his suitcase with his mac book!
The pros:
- That cash levels (+21 dBu!)
- Superb bandwidth (10HZ-90kHz)
- It works perfectly!
- Normal transparent and colored in different feasible mode.
- It opens up many possibilities compression!
- The recall
- The plug-in associated
Least
- The price .. but given the quality of manufacturing and the possibilities it is justified.
- MIDI input "to the old" (din 5 pin), USB would have been welcome.
- No entry or AES
