Compressor 1U rack 19 ", 2 independent channels, or operating in stereo. Gate, non-editable by computer. Jacks and XLR connectors, input / output" sidechain ". knob of notches 40 each (I counted). No switch of a power failure.

UTILIZATION

- The general configuration is it simple?
Yes. One branch is lit, turn all the buttons ... & Go.
The manual are not booked solid, but as mentioned earlier, there's plenty of advice on the internet.

Yes. Two settings for the gate (threshold & ratio), 4 for the compressor (threshold, ratio, attack, release), an overall gain.
2 channels, can be used separately or in stereo link (the voice is a voice teacher).

Automatic mode settings for attack and release of the compressor. Convenient, and works well.

SOUND QUALITY

Sound quality good, not breathing, good compression, an effective gate ... Good bug.

I do not like the sound made by the mode "OverEasy", which begins to compress the threshold.

OVERALL OPINION

I for 1 year. I use it as an insert on lead vocals, keyboard, and the master live.

UTILIZATION

Simple configuration as we know how a compressor works the followers of rglages automatic will have to form a little bit. Indeed, rglages machines are perfect for setting a master console avanr attacking the amp. Personal I use it as an insert on a console before saving to avoid the clips, spoil the background noise. SOUND QUALITY

Compression is often too trs effective elsewhere. Is mfier ratios above 2:1 and rglage attack too short, the risk of having a seriously flat. I use it as an insert taken on most pickups acoustic guitar, percussion and brass used primarily as a limiter to flatten the ridges and avoid clips. For voice and bass I prfre TLAudio my lamp ... The problem with this compressor rcurent is that there is no rglage soft knee compression and thus is always REALLY trs effective and lets nothing go over your r tings.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for two months. I like his rugged ct complete with a multipurpose CONTRL of all, I regret the absence of soft knee. I wanted a cheap two-channel compressor but complete to connect to my 4 compact and well he fit the bill bought 90 euros opportunity is not c the picture up!

UTILIZATION

Easy when you know how to rule a compressor. The manual supplied is simple and clear, and even gives some of xamples rglages appropriate situations. The pots are notched enjoyable.

SOUND QUALITY

Compressor efficiency! I have used on drums (bass drum, snare, hi-hat), on synthetic bass and lead vocals on, he is doing in his role impecable compressor. The expander is apprciable and efficiently.
I have a dbx 266A and a AudioPhony he is doing as well as any other part of the compression. The expander is effectively part of the dbx 2 on the AudioPhony.
on the other hand is almost unusable on a stro. Compression means immediately and direct the pump, even at relatively low ratios. After recess all dpends the loudness of the sound source to be treated, but I think it is too aggrssif for that use. Same with the switches that rglage OverEasy softknee.

OVERALL OPINION

I test compared a dbx 266A and AudioPhony it out high on the list thanks to its complete connectivity (better than the 266A) and expander efficiency (a bit better than the AudioPhony)

The dbx 266XL is an analog compressor/gate in the form of a rackable piece of outboard gear. It has two channels and will take up one rack space. It can't be edited digitally and can only be controlled with what you see. It has both XLR and 1/4 inch inputs and outputs, making it easy to both set up with a patch bay or to simply plug your instrument or microphone right into.

UTILIZATION

The configuration of the compressor is easy to follow and easy to either compressor or gate your signal effectively. Each channel has seven knobs and few buttons to control the effect. There are two knobs on each channel to control the expander/gate for threshold and ratio and then has parameters for threshold, ratio, attack, release and output gain for the compressor. These parameters provide a good deal of control over your sound. The manual seems pretty complete, but this was easy enough to use and control that I never needed to look at it too much.

SOUND QUALITY

The sound quality of the dbx 266XL is good, but nothing to write home about. It will give you a basic compressor sound, but isn't nearly as clean as I would like. This being said, the price of this really determines how good of a sound you can expect from this because it is aimed at those looking to get a dirt cheap outboard compressor. The sound of this is fine for some things, but won't blow you away. I have used this mostly with electric guitar and bass guitar.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had the dbx 266XL for about three and a half years. I have found is useful, but not spectacular. The price is what will drive most people to this, as it did for me. Dbx makes quality products and even though this is toward the the low end of what they make, this is useful and is nice to have at such a cheap price.
