UTILIZATION
easy to use. Expressive sounds, classy, analog Creates space in a mix. Focus's drums, and adds 3D to the stereo picture. Used subtily it 'unchokes has DAW mix, paradoxically for a compressor Adding dynamic and can for reduce the rms level while holding peak level. Heavier with gold settings Behaves more like a trad compressor. No sidechain ins, so bus-comp/master-bus duties only.
SOUND QUALITY
I did a blind shoot-out with neve / alan smart / api / ssl vintage compressors @ king [la], and consistantly the thing rolls over a wide-range of music. [the rupert neve WAS nicest, goal 3 times the price].
Transparent and clean [unlike the C2] Until compressing hard. less low end than the ssl. less manipulation of midrange than the api [all which excelled in mids].
consistantly pleasing. When using too much make-up gain-hiss can APPEAR [aim we are talking> 20 db!]. I usually use a minimum 1db, max 3db reduction. [no hiss at all At Those make-up levels].
OVERALL OPINION
used for 1 year. Most of my mixes pass through it. Happy to Have a mix bus comp That handles audio like a high-end unit, and is a third of the price of the big boys. Good value product.
