«  very sweet compressor »

Published on 02/28/14 at 03:33
fet hybrid compressor / lamps with jack and XLR connectors and 2 inputs Hi front (bass guitar)
soft knee compression

UTILIZATION

I wanted to give to Caesar what belongs to him, we read a lot on the net and also a lot of nonsense here is a review that is intended objective;
this compressor is too simple to use but it is like this (attack and release each with 2 settings: fast or slow)
the best setting (for me) is attack: slow and release: fast (weird!)
the input and output level is low, damage is the biggest flaw of the device (even symmetric)

SOUND QUALITY

this is a very sweet compressor (and discreet blow) totally the opposite of a Joemeek I personnaly is unusable (I had C2), he does not like the mix too heavy, he loves the voice , choirs, pianos, bass and high frequencies that embellishes discreetly;
it sounds (almost) as a BSS DPR402 but is not as versatile, it slightly favors low frequencies, and it handles high-mids with a real beauty, it's really an organic compressor but on soft sources no need to treat a mix loaded it can not do (to use the DPR402 or other)

OVERALL OPINION

5 years of use, I use it as DPR402, Focuriste compounder, this is not my favorite, it has some of the same flaws as the Compounder (unable to deal with complex signals is beautiful only on simple sources but the compounder wrong when the signal is too complicated and generates aggressive while 2021 will be indifferent treble) but his way of making organic vocals and piano makes it very endearing;
not necessary especially if we trash but significant even if for the moment for me the best compressor is the DPR402 (BSS processing in the midbass is just splendid, capable of handling all for a ridiculous price used) ;
So not everything is rotten in the Indigo series! (I do not know the rest of the series)
a very interesting comparison to those who speak English: http://joemeek.com/emreview.html
