Value For Money :
Excellent
I bought at FNAC there about 25 years after trying all the models that allowed a listen. Sennheiser HD400 only seemed to me better (closed and deeper bass response while remaining very balanced), but out of reach for my purse at the time.
What I like most: its balanced, very light, headband that knows how to forget, the ears are not overheating because still broken (open headphone, pads diameter: 65mm)
What I like least: like all open headphones: we hear outside noises.
Excellent value for money. I would do this choice (if it still existed) without a doubt.
Use on my chain on my mp3 player on my PC, on my digital piano, my TV.
Very light to wear, listening comfort, even after hours of use.
Mosses are very comfortable and well wrapped ear.
It is an open headphone. So we hear some background noise, but it does not affect the quality of the hearing.
Very balanced bass to treble register, unlike many modern headphones Hyperbass (including Sennheiser, including models like the DJ eH250 see corresponding sheet).
Only small downside. the HD40 lacks a bit of depth in the absolute low (but I am very demanding). I listen (or I listened to over the years), all kinds of music: classical (great interest to have a balanced register), pop, rock, Latin, zen, with much pleasure.
Please note, we can look very favorably with the TV. Its very clear in the register of the voice, while enjoying worthy of a theater musical moods.
Unlike the new range of Sennheiser (very weak on this point), the cable is very well made, and I always hear two sides after all these years, despite several blunders, tangling my feet in the cable ( 3m, so it is very convenient for HiFi and TV, but a little long for an MP3, you must wrap it with a small attachment).
Foam earpieces have lived and been replaced by other "earpads."
Comes with a 3.5 miniplug (TV + MP3) + adapter 6.3 (for the chain and the digital piano)
The quality is as good as new, indestructible. I always appreciate all and has nothing to envy to the new generation.
The headband is very light and souple.Il is therefore not tired either at this level là.En hand, if one is active, the pressure may seem a little low and it can move a little.
extensive the lower register (a little less consistent but this however), the more acute fatigue-free ears. The stereo image is flawless.
The noise level was never at fault, whatever the medium. Please note, no volume control. However, experience shows that setting on the headphones often creates imbalances left-right and / or crunches and / or pert signal. So no regrets either at this level.
I do not listen to music with 110dB in the ears, but relishes at a level that allows it to enjoy it anyway. I understand a little still outside noise (open headphone, only regret), and people can hear a bit if they are sitting next to me in public transport for example.
