I got a nice laptop but with USB 1.1 ports.
Creative doing quite expensive gadget, I was looking for something as cheap as possible but which is still better than the crap in my laptop that I can at least hear the sound of my hard drive electronics ...

PIV 1.7GHz, 512MB RAM, 40GB 5400rpm HDD, USB1.1, Windows XP SP2

NB: the interface of USB2.0 sound card

UTILIZATION

No installation since it is a USB card that uses the legacy drivers in Windows XP.
No incompatibility retained. It runs by itself.
There is nothing specific to configure.
The manual is in English but very complete. it's quite surprising!

GETTING STARTED

I installed ASIO4ALL Behringer but also provides a driver dedicated on his site that I have not tested.
The drivers are the drivers native to XP.

I use Tracktion 2, so I tested the interface with plug Ohmforce yesterday. It works USB1.1 nickel with a latency of 15ms (broadly acceptable).

I play the demos of Tracktion no problem and my projects go well over quite complex. OK, that may drop a little, but it depends on usage. To live, it is the USB2 .0. To tinker on his laptop, the 1.1 is enough.

I will be ordering a small PCMCIA card to USB 2.0 and I think I will be quiet with AC (the map is the 24bit/96kHz)

The card has inputs / outputs on RCA, an optical output S / PDIF, a monitor function to monitor the inputs and a headphone jack with volume control.
Ben and believe it or not: the sound is excellent for such a small thing (see my profile to see what I can compare) and there is no breath at a hair headphone and no noise.

OVERALL OPINION

Honestly, thank you Behringer. 33 euros for this, we can buy it eyes closed! It is simply amazing, and I weigh my words.
It's compact, well damn, it sounds and it makes you forget the card.
Critics of Behringer should not have much to say for once.

It is subjective, but the sound is really good. The bass is precise and well presented (listening on headphones AKG K240 Sennheiser HD212 Studio Pro) and the sound is clear and dynamic.

In any case, light years away from the chip integration of my laptop.

Voila. I just try to not believing too much, but the key is: I make music with! ;)
